Global Head of CapEx Construction Management

The Position

Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for guiding strategic initiatives and managing large-scale Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a proactive and innovative individual to take on the role of Global Head of CapEx Construction Management, based in Ingelheim or Biberach. Tasks & responsibilities

  • As the Global Head of CapEx Construction Management, you'll be the guiding force for all external Construction Managers working on large-scale CapEx projects worldwide. Your guidance, coaching, and support will be instrumental in ensuring success in delivering CapEx projects.
  • In your strategic leadership role, you'll ensure the alignment of construction activities with engineering, procurement, and commissioning in all major CapEx projects. This role will test your ability to harmonize multiple facets of project execution and ensure seamless operations starting from the early project phase.
  • Tasked with providing strategic guidance, you'll challenge the Construction Managers and team during project execution. Your role will involve fostering a culture of continuous improvement and driving the team towards achieving project milestones.
  • With a focus on stakeholder communication and risk management, you'll coordinate with various teams to achieve project milestones. Your ability to manage risks and communicate effectively with stakeholders will be pivotal in ensuring project success.
  • Part of your regular duties will involve monitoring and assessing project construction. You'll identify areas for improvement, contribute in the preparation and implementation of best practices, and foster innovation to optimize cost-efficiency. Your role will be crucial in driving operational efficiency, safety and promoting a culture of innovation.
  • Your commitment to global operations and compliance will be demonstrated by ensuring compliance with safety regulations, sustainability goals, and industry best practices during the execution. Requirements

  • Master's degree (MEng, MSc) or Diploma in Engineering fields such as mechanical, process, chemical, utility engineering, or similar
  • Comprehensive experience in Construction Management and CapEx Projects, demonstrating a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges of such roles
  • Extensive leadership experience, analytical and problem-solving skills presented in both German and international contexts, alongside a robust understanding of Risk Management and Quality Assurance, all communicated with empathetic clarity
  • Strong competence in conflict and crisis management, supplemented by top-notch project management skills, including change and time management; PMP or equivalent certification is highly valued
  • Proven track record of safe, successful projects and adherence to established best practices; knowledge of construction contracts and negotiation skills are a plus
  • Ability to inspire and energize others, transcending organizational boundaries, through exceptional bilingual communication skills in both German and English
