Data Acquisition Manager
The Position
Are you an experienced professional with a strong background in vendor management, data governance, and the acquisition of external data assets? Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly skilled Data Acquisition Manager to join our Human Pharma Data & Analytics division. In this role, you will shape the global external data ecosystem by managing strategic vendor relationships, working closely with our HP market’s organizations around the globe, ensuring compliance, and enabling high‑quality data for analytics, insights, and decision-making across the Human Pharma business.
You will act as the central interface between the Data Acquisition & Governance team, HP global functions and (R)OPUs, and external data vendors, managing contract and budget processes while ensuring our external data acquisition complies with regulatory, quality, and business standards. Your work will directly contribute to Boehringer Ingelheim’s ability to drive data‑driven transformation and unlock value across global and regional teams.

Tasks & responsibilities
- Lead and manage our relationship with external data vendors, ensuring alignment with business needs, compliance requirements, and BI’s data strategy in coordination with HP business priorities.
- Drive vendor sourcing, onboarding, and contract management, partnering with procurement, legal, compliance, and business teams.
- Oversee data acquisition, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality data deliveries that support analytics, reporting, and regulatory use cases.
- Establish and optimize vendor related processes, standardizing workflows, reducing complexity, and ensuring documentation and audit readiness.
- Serve as the central contact for internal stakeholders, advising on data availability, vendor capabilities, and data quality topics.
- Monitor data quality and vendor performance, resolve delivery issues, and coordinate improvements together with markets, data operations and analytics teams.
- Manage vendor budgets and financials, oversee cross-charging processes, and support investment decisions and financial planning.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in vendor or contract management, procurement or project management in the area of Third Party Data Acquisition.
- Strong business acumen, knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and risk management, with experience collaborating with legal and compliance teams.
- Proven skills in managing vendor relationships, contracts, and budget processes in complex environments.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a structured approach to problem solving.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills in English and German.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts and data lifecycle management; exposure to frameworks such as FAIR is beneficial.
- Financial acumen and experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cross-charging processes.
