Associate Director Pharmacometrics Oncology

The Position

This position is a globally acting managerial role in Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences Therapeutic Area Oncology.
It combines scientific excellence, strategic and practical guidance on model-informed drug development (MIDD) and leadership to a dynamic and highly engaged team of pharmacometricians based in Ingelheim and Biberach who develop and implement clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics strategies and execute integrated clinical pharmacometric analyses in a GxP environment.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site.

This position is part time eligible with 80%.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will guide and mentor your team of Pharmacometrics Leads to establish and execute innovative holistic pharmacometric strategies and analyses targeted towards specific portfolio needs and development stage of an investigational drug.
  • In alignment with your functional head, you will drive innovative pharmacometrics approaches across pipeline assets leveraging synergies and enhancing their probability of success and represent at internal as well as external meetings, committees and panels.
  • With your profound expertise, you will manage the people development including effective talent management & goal setting according to BI leadership principles.
  • Moreover, you will enable transparent and effective communication, foster exchange of knowledge and experience within the area of responsibility, with neighboring areas and interfaces within Boehringer.
  • In addition, you will ensure compliance with SOPs, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations such as GCP and laws applicable to the area of expertise.

Requirements

  • PhD or MD in Pharmacometrics, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biology, Applied Mathematics or related disciplines with several years of experience in pharmacometrics applied to preclinical or clinical development, alternatively Master's degree in the relevant field with longstanding professional experience in model-informed drug development
  • Specific knowledge in application of innovative model-informed drug development (MIDD) approaches to drug development in Oncology, e.g. for innovative modalities such as T cell engagers, ADCs, dose optimization in line with FDA’s Project OPTIMUS requirements
  • Sound knowledge of preclinical and clinical drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably including NDA/BLA submissions; Know-How with applicable laws, regulatory guidelines and requirements, e. g. GCP and ICH guidelines
  • Knowledge in related fields of life science and/or medicine, e.g. translational medicine, biomarkers, clinical pharmacology, data sciences, medical etc is a plus
  • Demonstrated matrix leadership and project management skills within a multidisciplinary, global and complex setting; experience in people management is a plus
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written
