Associate Category Manager

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you drive and implement the commodity strategy for the global categories in alignment with the overall Boehringer Ingelheim sourcing strategy, while constantly seeking opportunities to increase productivity, optimize external global spending, and reduce costs.
  • You collaborate closely with local teams and business partners to ensure that local demands are considered in the strategy.
  • Furthermore, you identify and evaluate potential as well as existing suppliers and maintain strong relationships with them.
  • Utilizing Strategic Supplier Relationship Management, you strive to introduce innovation from the external marketplace into Boehringer Ingelheim and optimize our external spending within the commodity.
  • In addition, you serve as a contact point within the Sourcing team to align issue resolutions, common goals, strategies, and manage demands to ensure a smooth transfer of relevant information both internally and externally.
  • Lastly, you optimize buying channels, leverage market opportunities, and make efficient use of sourcing tools such as WeBuy, reverse auction, parallel negotiation, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration and/or life sciences
  • Ideally, experience in contracting / sourcing / purchasing experience in clinical development and an understanding of the global CRO market
  • Initial experience in category management and an international working environment
  • Preferential: Knowledge of compliance requirements, e.g. GxP
  • Advanced Knowledge in English. Knowledge of the German language is a plus
