(Senior) Site Master Planner

The Position  

 

Join our small, international team of experts in a unique in-house masterplanning role, driving the development of strategic site masterplan frameworks for Boehringer Ingelheim’s national and international sites. As a Senior Manager, you will shape the global SMP strategy, influence long-term site development, represent the function in leadership forums, and lead the creation of global standards while mentoring future talent. This position offers the chance to tackle diverse design challenges, from production optimization to office campus planning. 

 

This position is to be filled either as Manager SMP Architect or as Senior Manager SMP Architect. 

 

Tasks & responsibilities  

 

  • One of your key responsibilities will be to lead individual Site Masterplan projects, managing project scope, design delivery, and stakeholder engagement. 
  • In regard to stakeholder collaboration, you engage with operational and strategic teams to understand and translate business needs effectively. 
  • Moreover, you analyze existing site conditions, benchmark against other sites, and synthesize data into actionable insights. 
  • Furthermore, you develop strategic design options, communicate decisions, and present them to stakeholders. 
  • In addition, you manage project timelines, prepare steering committee materials, and coordinate external suppliers. 
  • You will contribute to the evolution of our design tools and methods, including GIS, benchmarking, and engagement strategies. 

 

As Senior Manager you will additionally take over: 

  • One of your key responsibilities will be to define and prioritize the global SMP roadmap in alignment with business unit strategies. 
  • In regard to high-impact initiatives, you lead complex, multi-site SMP projects with visibility at senior leadership level. 
  • Moreover, you establish and maintain global governance standards for SMP development and execution. 
  • Furthermore, you act as a mentor and coach to junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. 

 

Requirements  

 

  • A background in architecture and/or urban planning forms the foundation of your expertise. 
  • Several years of professional experience, including site masterplanning and strategic thinking, highlight your capabilities; industry knowledge is an advantage. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills enable you to build effective relationships. 
  • International experience demonstrates your ability to navigate diverse cultural and professional contexts. 
  • Your collaborative behavior and can-do attitude contribute to a positive team dynamic. 
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize ensures you excel in managing complex projects. 

 

As Senior Manager you additionally fulfill the following requirements: 

  • You have long term and proven leadership experience in managing complex, cross-functional planning projects. 
  • Developing and implementing global standards and governance frameworks is part of your professional expertise. 
  • Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities allow you to foster team growth and development. 
  • Your ability to influence senior stakeholders helps drive strategic decisions effectively. 
  • A deep understanding of compliance, regulatory, and operational planning contexts enhances your decision-making.
