(Senior) Process Manager - Payroll & Time Management
The Position
As (Senior) Process Manager Payroll & Time Management, you will play a key role in shaping and safeguarding Boehringer Ingelheim’s global payroll and time management process landscape. You will act as a senior subject matter authority, driving global standards, system optimization and large‑scale transformation initiatives. With your deep process and system expertise, you will lead complex cross‑country initiatives end‑to‑end, ensure compliance, and actively contribute to the strategic evolution of Payroll & Time processes within the GBS Total Rewards framework.
Tasks & responsibilities
• You will contribute to the management of global payroll and time management processes, supporting their standardization, harmonization, and compliance across regions.
• You will support global initiatives and projects by collaborating with IT, HR, and GBS Centers, contributing to system implementations, enhancements, and process transitions.
• Based on the global process strategy, you will help translate requirements into actionable measures, supporting roadmap execution and contributing to change initiatives aligned with the SAP/ERP landscape.
• As a knowledgeable contact, you will provide guidance on payroll and time-related processes and support issue resolution and escalation handling when required.
• You will support system-related activities and may take ownership of specific modules or components within global payroll and time management platforms, contributing to lifecycle and release activities.
• You will assist in maintaining governance frameworks by contributing to the creation and update of SOPs, controls, roles, and authorization concepts to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
• You will monitor process performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support the implementation of efficiency and compliance enhancements while staying informed about regulatory updates and industry practices.
Additional tasks for Senior Process Manager:
• Taking full end-to-end ownership, you will oversee global payroll and time management processes, ensuring their standardization, harmonization, and audit-proof design across all regions.
• Leading complex global initiatives and programs, you will collaborate closely with IT, HR, and GBS Centers to drive system rollouts, major enhancements, regulatory changes, and transitions.
• By translating the global process strategy, you will create actionable roadmaps, implement change initiatives, and deliver measurable outcomes aligned with the SAP/ERP target landscape and Boehringer Ingelheim's transformation priorities.
• As a senior sparring partner, you will provide expert guidance and act as an escalation point for payroll and time-related process, system, and compliance topics.
• In this role, you will assume or delegate system ownership and senior functional governance responsibilities for global payroll and time management platforms, including lifecycle management and release governance.
• Designing and safeguarding global governance models will be part of your responsibilities, including the creation of SOPs, controls, roles, and authorization concepts to ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
• With a proactive approach, you will monitor process performance, stay updated on regulatory developments and industry trends, and initiate improvement measures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Requirements
• Master's degree in business administration or a related field or a comparable qualification
• Few years of relevant experience in payroll and/or time management processes, ideally with exposure to global environments
• Solid knowledge of common payroll and/or time management systems such as SAP, SuccessFactors, or Workforce, with hands-on experience in day-to-day operations or projects
• Experience in supporting the design and improvement of efficient, user-oriented processes, with awareness for global standards and local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across functions and regions, building collaborative working relationships
• Good understanding of roles and authorization concepts as well as compliance requirements in payroll and time processes; initial experience in their implementation is a plus
• Experience working in projects or initiatives within cross-functional and/or international teams is beneficial
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
Additional requirements for Senior Process Manager:
• Several years of relevant working experience in designing and implementing global payroll and time processes
• Subject matter expertise with common payroll and/or time management applications such as SAP, Success Factors or Workforce
• Experience in designing efficient, user-centric processes on a global scale as well as understanding and reflecting needs for localizations
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across all levels of the organization
• Proven track record in designing and deploying audit-proof role and authorization concepts along payroll and time processes and systems
• Experience in complex projects in a globally dispersed team is a considerable plus
