The basic purpose of this role is to manage the manufacturing of biologicals to meet the Commercial requirements and Industrial Operations objectives, complying with QC/QA/RA requirements and ensuring cost reduction and continuous improvement of processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages the production process of the product flow.
  • Ensures facility compliance for safety & environmental goals and other regulatory requirements.
  • Analyzes the production plan for capacity constraints and coordinates with the Site Director via sales and operations planning processes.
  • Provides support and leadership to the operational/ organization in support of operational goals.
  • Oversees the supervision of personnel, including selection & performance reviews.
  • Reviews and interprets operational & financial data and provides written reports and team communications as required.
  • Develops, reviews & approves budgets & expenditures.
  • Facilitates business applications for control of operational processes and inventory to provide accurate product manufacturing costs.
  • Develops and implements operating policies and procedures as required.
  • Evaluates and assists the organization with new products, product specification and quality support.
  • Initiates solutions to support Operational Excellence business processes and develop business acumen.
  • Ensures safety, environmental, cost and operational goals are within target expectations.
  • Develops monthly improvement plans/ indicators and communicates to correct missed performance.
  • Manages development of direct reports evident through goal setting and application of new ideas.
  • Monitors the production and release of materials continuously.
  • Facilitates problem solving when disturbances arise.
  • Develops and manages the action plans of the flow functions.
  • Manages training processes to carry out the prescribed objectives, anticipates future training needs and recognizes skill gaps in operations/ maintenance.
  • Utilizes various communication formats to reinforce the strategic vision and objectives as well as targets and performance.
  • Evaluates and escalates issues and corrective actions and ensures the solutions are generated by applying the defined methodologies.
  • Monitors overall resource utilization within the flow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably Science, Business or Engineering) required with five to seven (5-7) years related experience.
  • Experience in management and leading people in a production environment.
  • In depth knowledge in biological vaccine manufacturing including but not limited to:
    • media production
    • cell production
    • virus production
    • bacterial production
    • aseptic formulation
    • filling & lyophilization
    • packaging
  • Knowledgeable in ERP system.
  • Knowledgeable in lean manufacturing concepts and principles.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Effective communication (written and verbal).
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of biological/vaccines manufacturing and its management, including Regulatory Affairs, R&D, and Quality Assurance.
  • Knowledge of all USDA, GMP, CFIA, regulations, as well as local, and National regulations.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills; demonstrated results in leading diversified groups.
