Human Resources Co-op, Human Pharma, Fremont CA Onsite

Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative co-op candidate to join the Human Resources team supporting Human Pharma. Based in either Fremont, CA, or Ridgefield, CT, the co-op will support HR projects focused on process improvement, data insights, compliance, employee and manager support, and responsible use of AI and automation. The primary focus of this role is to support the implementation of HR technology strategies by translating business needs into practical, scalable solutions and assisting with requirements, design, testing, deployment, adoption, and outcome measurement. The co-op will work cross-functionally with several areas within HR to gather input, evaluate opportunities, and help deliver practical solutions that support the organization.

This role will be based in Fremont, CA.

 

 

 

Before applying please ensure you can commit to the following:

  • Expect to be on-site for at least 3 days per week and must be located in the local area for the Co-op. 
  • You can start on the following dates: Dates are not flexible January 6, January 21, or February 3.   
  • You can work full-time and for at least 4 months after the start date.  You may be extended up to 6 months in total. These are full-time positions only.    

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR, business, and technology stakeholders to assess HR processes and technology needs, identify gaps, gather requirements, and support the design, testing, deployment, and implementation of scalable solutions aligned with HR technology strategies.
  • Collaborate with the local IT team to develop and execute a pilot project that leverages innovative technologies and methodologies to deliver business value. Potential technologies include AI/ML, data science, LLMs, IoT, APIs, databases/SQL, and RPA.
  • Execute pilot projects using Agile methodologies; document solution design, lessons learned, and key outcomes, and transfer knowledge to the local IT team.
  • Support HR initiatives and pilot projects, including dashboards, performance management, talent development discussions, headcount tracking, and other strategic HR priorities.
  • Develop project plans, monitor milestones and risks, and incorporate stakeholder feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Define and track success metrics, including user adoption, efficiency, accuracy, user experience, and reduction of manual effort.
  • Create process documentation, training materials, communications, and demonstrations to support adoption, knowledge transfer, and sustainable use of solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, responsible AI, governance, and regulatory requirements throughout solution development and implementation.
  • Provide project management, analytical, and operational support for additional HR initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
  • Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the internship/co-op.
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
  • Major or minor in related field of internship/co-op.
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university.
  • Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • Experience with or interest in Human Resources technology, workflow automation, and AI-enabled tools preferred.
  • Self-driven, organized, curious, and able to work independently while seeking input when needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical or analytical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple activities, and collaborate across HR functions and with colleagues in different locations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with appropriate discretion and follow applicable data privacy and company requirements.
  • Experience with data analytics, collaboration tools, or cloud-based systems preferred.
  • Interest in Human Resources, business operations, and/or process improvement.
