The Executive Director, Multi Species Sales role will spearhead the development, execution, and performance oversight of commercial accounts across multiple species segments, driving operational excellence within rural retail and distribution accounts. This position is pivotal in aligning Distribution Account Management (DAM) functions with species-specific commercial strategies to elevate customer engagement and unlock maximum net sales potential. As the strategic architect of Key Account initiatives, this role will champion cross-species integration and synergy, ensuring cohesive execution and enhanced strategic alignment. It will shape and steer commercial strategy to future-proof the organization’s capabilities, anticipating and adapting to evolving multi-species market trends.

This leadership role will lead the creation and deployment of high-impact sales strategies, policies, contracts, and operational procedures. The incumbent will drive strategic planning, organizational development, succession planning, and team capability building through targeted training and development. The position holder will act as the lead for this segment as it relates to transactional management, logistics and warehousing, forecasting, and introduction of new products.  

The Executive Director, Multi Species Sales will initiate strategies to inform business direction and optimize resource allocation. The incumbent will deliver measurable results in topline revenue growth, profitability, and performance against defined objectives and KPIs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides visionary leadership and long-range strategic direction to deliver annual sales and profit objectives across diverse multi-species accounts.
  • Develops and cascades annual targets for sales, market share, and profitability, ensuring seamless alignment with overarching business goals.
  • Leverages advanced customer segmentation, strategic contracting, and portfolio/solution optimization to amplify market penetration and commercial impact.
  • Leads the execution of the multi-species sales strategy, driving the development and activation of comprehensive business plans for all key account customers and strategic partners.
  • Ensures seamless implementation of integrated business and marketing initiatives that consistently deliver—or exceed—annual sales and market share targets.
  • Oversees the end-to-end management of commercial operations, including sales strategy, policy development, contract execution, procedural governance, and strategic planning.
  • Champions precision in customer segmentation and portfolio/solution optimization to maximize market reach, elevate customer value, and accelerate commercial performance.
  • Shapes and supports the development of annual sales, market share, and profitability targets for multi-species Key Accounts.
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Marketing, Technical Services, Commercial Excellence, and Finance to execute integrated short- and long-term strategic plans that deliver against commercial objectives.
  • Partners closely with segment leaders—including Heads of Pet, Livestock, and Equine Sales—and their respective teams to ensure strategic cohesion and operational alignment across species.
  • Champions a unified approach to planning and execution that maximizes customer value, accelerates growth, and strengthens market leadership.
  • Provides leadership of the Distribution Account Management function, ensuring disciplined budget stewardship and operational efficiency across all managed accounts.
  • Drives identification and execution of high-impact initiatives focused on volume acceleration, cost optimization, and long-term customer commitment—positioning the business for sustained growth and competitive advantage.
  • Exercises fiscal control on allocated operating budgets.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to accelerate volume growth, reduce costs, and address both immediate and long-term resource requirements.
  • Develops and presents forward-looking strategies that align with business priorities, guiding effective decision-making and targeted resource allocation to fuel sustainable growth.
  • Champions the creation of a behavior-based culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Builds and empowers a high-performing team equipped to drive transformational impact across the evolving multi-species segment.
  • Fosters open, transparent communication and dynamic feedback loops across functions to ensure alignment, agility, and shared ownership of strategic outcomes.
  • Serves as the multi-species lead on the cAHLT, actively shaping strategies and initiatives by representing the voice and priorities of the multi-species account organization.
  • Drives talent development and team effectiveness to ensure sustained commercial success and organizational resilience in the multi species landscape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree (MBA) preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful management of cross-functional team leads/managers.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in related industry (within the US). Of these fifteen (15) years of relevant industry experience, candidate should have seven-plus (7+) years of successful Sales Management experience and five-plus (5+) years Operations experience (Forecasting, Logistics/Distribution).
  • Global experience (projects, leading teams) and interacting at a high level with Global partners.
  • Excellent management skills, ability to analyze information and make decisions based on sound business practices and within acceptable risk tolerances.
