Director, Demand Planning
Description
The Demand Planning Function controls the flow of goods and involves active streamlining of supply chain flows. This is done to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace and maximize the value to customers. This area is responsible for ensuring that all 650+ stock keeping units, totaling over $2.1B in Net Sales, are available to the customers at country level. The importance of this role has increased recently with the adoption of new channels (retail, e-commerce, e-pharmacy, corporate accounts), which increased the complexity and the importance of having product availability as the consequences of a product shortage are getting closer to the end consumer. The Director, Demand Planning will facilitate the US Executive S&OP process with Commercial, Finance, and Global Supply members from the Animal Health Leadership Team (AHLT), consolidating all key Supply Chain topics and activities into one meeting while influencing the strategic decision-making process. The role also leads the management of Commercial Destructions and International Cost of Freight at the country level, leading cross functional teams to optimize planning resources, lead financial forecasting processes, and ensure a positive P&L impact. This role will liaise with Global Supply Chain regarding planning systems strategy and global projects execution, and act as the lead for the monthly Region Alignment Call. The role will define the country strategy and ownership of the Project Portfolio Optimization process. The incumbent will manage and develop 5 Associate Director Demand Planners and 3 Demand Planning Analysts and will be part of the Commercial Supply Chain Leadership Team. This role is going through increasing complexity as BI business model evolves. This means that in the event of any product shortage the supply chain cannot rely on the buffers previously present in the distribution channel, and therefore any lack of product directly impacts the end customer and animal treatments are at risk. In a liquid and rapidly evolving environment that impacts our global and local supply chains, this role requires strong demand sensitivity and agility. The move BI is making towards channels like e-commerce, retail, e-pharmacy has changed the inventory fulfillment strategy for several products. This role will have to interact with other Supply Chain functions and Marketing to systematically ensure product availability to distributors, clinics, retail, and end consumer. Currently the S&OP process is broken into 2 systems and sets of data that are not aligned. There is an urgent need of organizing this into a new data layer architecture, to provide agility on reporting and analytics. By leading this, the incumbent will promote a shift on the profile of the Demand Planning function, from reporting to real added value and influence on decisions based on analytics. The incumbent needs to be abreast of business models and customer needs and translate this into high value supply chain processes. This candidate will need to handle management of data and information from different sources, as well as can translate these into strategical advice and challenge to different functions.
