Director, Access & Reimbursement

As part of the Market Access team, this individual will report directly to Executive Director, Access& Reimbursement. The incumbent will lead a team of Access & Reimbursement professionals (RAADs) maintain strong and lasting relationships with Health Care Provider Offices, Specialty Pharmacies, Commercial Business Units, and US Reimbursement and Payment Organizations/Agencies in order to optimize access and reimbursement to BI Specialty portfolio, while providing strategic vision and strategy development to the Access & Reimbursement Team for the Specialty Portfolio. Requirements

  • Bachelor´s Degree from an accredited institution required; Master´s Degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • Expert in Specialty Access & Reimbursement including HUB Services, Specialty Sales, Specialty Pharmacy and Payer Sales.
  • Minimum twelve (12) years experience in the health care industry; inclusive of seven plus (7+) years in Specialty.
  • Strong understanding and prior experience with the development and implementation of Co-Pay, Access/HUB vendor selection and management
  • Prior experience with execution of Service Agreements and Data Management.
  • Managing Field Sales, Account Managers or Access/Reimbursement Specialist
  • Strong understanding of Specialty Access and Reimbursement, Commercial, Government Payment Systems, Provider/Carrier Networks, Co-Pay Assistance Programs, and knowledge of the specialty policy dynamics that exist in the Cancer and other Specialty Communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and lead cross functional teams to gain alignment and improve business performance.

  • Have broad understanding as demonstrated by prior practical experience within in a minimum of four of the following five functional areas:
    • responsibilities for HUB operations & performance as defined as direct interface with leadership responsible for HUB activities as well as practical experience with field based end users,
    • clear demonstration of a bias for customer
    • payer and/or PBM experience in the specialty therapeutic areas,
    • Medicare Carrier and
    • appropriate specialty therapeutic clinical experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • This person must exhibit strong leadership and relationship skills and be able to foster and communicate the Business Unit´s strategic vision to both their team and numerous cross-functional BI workstreams.
  • Continue to build the cross functional model that Access & Reimbursement fosters - collaborating with internal and external key stakeholders to successfully achieve BI´s objectives to serve patients and find new solutions to unmet medical challenges
  • The team will optimize access and reimbursement to BI´s current and future Specialty products by monitoring trends of External Agencies through case management by the RAADs, supporting internal stakeholders including Payer, HEOR, and Brand support a favorable coverage and policy environment for our products. Liaise with providers to troubleshoot access & reimbursement issues when the HUB is not able to resolve in a timely or optimal outcome.
  • Supervise the RAAD Specialty Pharmacy Leads in their compliant and effective communication with the SP Liaisons to optimize patient experience in obtaining BI Specialty portfolio while monitoring trends in specialty access.
  • Provide interpretive guidance and strategic insight to various internal BI stakeholders as to the impact of potential access &reimbursement issues.

Compensation Data:


This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.
