Technical Services Veterinarian, Equine (Western Canada)

The Position

  • The successful candidate will join the Boehringer Ingelheim market leading equine team as Equine Tech Services Manager. This equine focused tech services position will play an important role and be part of a fully equine focused team.
  • This team is focused on delivering high quality products and services to support our Veterinary Customers and the wellbeing of their patients. 
  • The ideal candidate will have in depth experience and knowledge in equine medicine, strong analytical, communication and presentation skills, and demonstrate high level leadership.
  • A growth mindset and collaboration skills are keys to success in this role. This position currently reports to the Business Unit Director and will be responsible for technical services in the territory of Western Canada.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supports sales and marketing by producing technical information materials in line with sales and marketing strategy for assigned species, for sales team, veterinary customers and end-users
  • Influence customers to achieve financial performance requirements for business (net sales, profitability and operating expenses). Proactively promotes BICL products in the field through field rides and direct customer contact.
  • Build and maintain relationships with veterinarians on a regular basis to identify disease trending and customer needs.
  • Provides supporting input on customer needs to team members through agreed communication channels (to Business Unit Director, Brand Managers, Sales Managers and other TSVs). Proactive contribution and prioritization during species tactics/strategy meetings to build strategic plans. Recommends technical approaches that are aligned with business and brand strategy to provide solutions.
  • Responds in a timely manner to all inquiries on species-specific products and investigates and resolves all adverse reactions and associated customer complaints. Adheres to PV SOPs and processes.
  • Support product launches, territory manager training and veterinary customer and end-user meetings as needed
  • Performs all BI business in accordance with all regulations and BICL compliance guidelines and procedures. When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contracts in order to maintain BICL’s excellent reputation within the industry.
  • Positions Boehringer Ingelheim as an important key player in the specific species sector by providing the latest up-to-date product knowledge and information on diseases to academia and key opinion leaders nationally and internationally.

This position is field-based.  
Field-based roles require employees to be located in the area/region where their role is based to be close to our customers.  

 

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent degree, with valid Canadian veterinary license
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical or academic practice
  • Equine practice experience would be an asset.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong aptitude in computer skills.
  • Strong technical and knowledge of equine medicine
  • Exceptional presentation skills

  • Ability to travel (including overnight stays)
  • Should reside in assigned geographic area

  • For Quebec-based positions: French is required. However this position is Alberta based therefore French competencies are not required however this would be an asset.

Our total rewards program reflects and recognizes employee contributions to the company.  The salary range for this position is from $115,000 to $151,000.  Performance, relevant experience and competency in the role is a key factor in driving compensation decisions.
