Consumer Marketing Director

THE POSITION

  • The Consumer Marketing Director is responsible for driving a symmetry of intent at the point of care by accelerating dissemination of information on Boehringer Ingelheim medicines and the diseases that they treat to patients and HCPs faster by developing and executing innovative marketing strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of patient and HCP behaviour, market dynamics, the regulatory and compliance environment and the ability to leverage data and analytics to inform decision-making.
  • This leadership role will drive the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that educate, engage, and activate patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals across digital and traditional channels. The ideal candidate has deep experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, understands regulatory requirements, and can lead cross-functional teams to achieve brand objectives and optimize the patient journey.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the patient directed marketing strategy in close partnership with local asset teams for assigned brand(s), ensuring alignment with overall brand objectives and compliance standards.
  • Partner with asset teams for assigned brands to co-develop and execute the omnichannel marketing strategy with a focus on patient engagement, integrating digital, social, CRM, TV, print, search, email, and in-office media to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Execute with excellence across priority patient initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver patient campaigns that lead to customer satisfaction/trust and seek business opportunities
  • Lead a growing team over time, as well as cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches, brand building, and patient engagement initiatives.
  • Utilize market research and patient insights to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
  • Collaborate with brand team, communications, medical affairs, and market access teams to optimize product positioning and messaging.
  • Manage patient marketing budgets and assess the effectiveness of consumer-directed marketing campaigns.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to adapt marketing strategies accordingly.

Leadership & Budget Management

  • Lead/mentor marketers with a focus on Digital Marketing and Engagement  and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Act as a DTC/DTP thought leader within the organization keeping on top of industry trends and innovations with a focus on DTC/DTP engagement in Canada.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar budgets with an emphasis on efficiency, performance, and ROI.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Health Canada, IMC and company policies and regulatory requirements.

Campaign Development & Execution

  • Oversee end-to-end campaign development: concept, creative brief, messaging, testing, deployment, and optimization.
  • Partner with internal and external agencies to deliver compelling and compliant creative content tailored for various touchpoints.
  • Leverage real-time data and insights to adjust campaigns and media mix for maximum ROI and engagement.
  • Manage media planning and buying across digital (programmatic, social, SEO/SEM), offline (TV, radio, print), and emerging platforms.

This position is based in the Burlington, Ontario office located at 5180 South Service Road and is flexible.
Employees in flexible roles are required to be at the office a minimum of 50% of the time each month and must report to the office when requested and required by their Manager/Department.

 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of Direct to Consumer (DTC) experience is required including experience building and executing fully integrated omnichannel campaigns (pharmaceutical experience preferred).
  • Proven success in launching or growing brands with a DTC/DTP campaign.
  • Strong understanding of omnichannel strategy, digital engagement tactics, media buying, CRM, and data analytics.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proven experience in direct to patient marketing navigating the Canadian the Canadian regulatory environment; ability to understand customer insights and pull through creative that is culturally relevant, engaging and meets country regulations.
  • Delivered PESO campaigns (paid, earned, shared, owned) in action collaborating closely with communications and media teams to drive activation.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven marketing decision-making; Strong data and analytical skillset; understands leading and lagging metrics across Seek, Start and Stay.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills (particularly in cross functional collaboration, decision making and leading without authority); Experience in organizational change management and to influence senior leaders for key strategic decisions.
