3PL Liaison
The Position
Ensure excellence in logistics and distribution through effective management of 3PL operations and rigorous performance monitoring. This includes overseeing the storage and distribution of goods, ensuring delivery of the right products to the right locations on time, at optimal cost, and in alignment with defined service level
agreements (SLAs).
Responsible for coordinating import and export activities, ensuring full compliance with customs regulations, and managing the performance of the customs broker.
Additionally, oversee all inbound and outbound transportation activities to ensure efficient freight movement, service reliability, and cost optimization.
Take accountability for distribution cost management, including budget development, projections for Budget and Outlook cycles, continuous monitoring of cost performance, and investigating variances. Review, validate, and authorize logistics and transportation invoices to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational and
contractual requirements.
Continuously monitor logistics performance, cost, service levels, and quality metrics. Collaborate closely with 3PL partners to identify capacity constraints, improve operational efficiency, and drive corrective actions when required.
Ensure proper execution of SAP transactions and data interfaces between BI systems and 3PL platforms, validating that all inventory movements and transactional updates are accurate, timely, and fully reconciled

Responsibilities
3PL Operations, Performance, & Compliance
Identify logistics improvement opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives; coordinate gain share programs with 3PL partners.
Monitor and work closely with 3PL providers to ensure full compliance with customer SLAs, contractual KPIs, and regulatory expectations.
Lead resolution of customer non compliance issues, operational deviations, and logistics errors, working with 3PL partners to eliminate root causes and prevent recurrence.
File, manage, and track claims related to warehousing and transportation activities until full closure and recovery.
Provide input to support contract negotiations & tenders with 3PL’s with focus on QAAs, KPIs and cost
Operational Excellence
Partner with 3PL providers to analyze operations and jointly develop initiatives that improve customer
service performance and reduce overall distribution and transportation costs.
Champion process changes that support cost reduction, enable new business growth opportunities, or align with strategic organizational decisions.
Troubleshoot issues effectively by directing and coordinating actions with the appropriate internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders—following through until full resolution.
Transportation & Freight Management
Oversee day to day transportation execution, ensuring routing efficiency, on time delivery performance, and proactive carrier management.
Validate freight cost structures, ensure rate adherence, and support optimization efforts such as mode shifting, consolidation, and backhaul opportunities.
Agility, Adaptability & Leadership
Demonstrate strong agility and adaptability when managing changing priorities,or urgent customer requirements—while maintaining focus on key deliverables.
Provide strong leadership in managing 3PL relationships, influencing decision making, and ensuring alignment with business expectations.
Systems, Data Integrity & Interfaces
Maintain system accuracy by overseeing the integrity of interfaces between SAP and 3PL systems.
Monitor and validate that all master data, inventory movements, ASN updates, receipts, orders, and confirmations are processed accurately and reconciled in a timely manner.
Take accountability for distribution cost management, including budgets, projections, and variance analysis, while continuously improving logistics and transportation for cost effective distribution
Manage local logistics and distribution operations in alignment with best practices, regulatory requirements,
and Quality Assurance standards.
Oversee the customs broker to ensure compliance with customs regulations, accurate classification, valuation, and documentation.
Monitor customs entries to ensure duties, taxes, and HST are correctly assessed and paid.
Ensure complete and accurate import/export documentation to support compliant and timely customs clearance.
Coordinate and resolve customs issues with the broker and internal teams to prevent delays and maintain compliance.
Review, validate, and approve logistics and customs related invoices
Manage outbound shipments for returning goods or export to other countries
Manage inbound from port to warehouse distribution and customs processes
Manage last mile distribution
Responsible for inventory accuracy, reconciliation, identifying any variance and resolving stock issues
Monitor, document and follow up on inventory discrepancies
This position is based in the Burlington, Ontario office located at 5180 South Service Road and is flexible.
Employees in flexible roles are required to be at the office a minimum of 50% of the time each month and must report to the office when requested and required by their Manager/Department
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field
- Certificates (preferred): APICS
- 8 years in warehousing, logistics, transportation, and 3PL management, and
- 5 years in pharmaceutical industry and GDP environment
- Experience with import/export transportation and customs documentation
- Strong knowledge of cold chain and temperature controlled freight
- Strong SAP and Excel data processing capability
- Technical Capabilities
- Expertise in 3PL management, warehousing, distribution, and transportation
- Strong customs, import/export, and regulatory compliance knowledge
- Deep understanding of GDP and temperature controlled logistics for pharma products
- SAP proficiency and ability to manage system interfaces and data integrity
- Strong analytical skills (variance analysis, freight cost modeling, inventory reconciliation)
- Advanced Excel skills and large volume data management
- Leadership & Behavioral Capabilities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple suppliers and priorities
- Effective negotiation and communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to influence external partners (3PLs, brokers, carriers) and internal stakeholders
- Agility and adaptability to shifting operational priorities and urgent customer needs
- Strong problem solving, issue resolution, and escalation management skills

The salary range for this position is from $85,530 - $114,000. Performance, relevant experience and competency in the role will be a key factor in driving the compensation offered. In addition, this position is eligible for a variable bonus target opportunity of 12% of the annual base salary.
