Senior Internal Investigator

The Position

Global Legal & Compliance envisions to build up shared service capabilities for certain Legal & Compliance services. A strong focus of such shared services will be on planning and conducting internal investigations on potential misconduct regarding a number of defined Compliance areas (Antibribery/Anticorruption, Antitrust, Antidiscrimination, Conflict of Interest, Data Protection, Healthcare Compliance, and Insider Trading) as well as potential violations of the general level of ethical behavior as defined in BI’s Code of Conduct.

This role will conduct routine and complex in-depth end-to-end investigations of confidential and sensitive nature on potential violations, conduct root-cause analysis, prepare investigative reports and recommend CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions), when applicable.

Responsible for working with the Global Investigations Office (GIO) at Corporate Headquarters to lead and conduct internal investigations and address compliance concerns across all business segments. 
In addition to the ongoing investigation service and advice to any R/OPU investigation resource, the purpose of the role is to constantly improve and enhance the methodology how to process internal investigations, calibrate risk profiles, measure case handling and service, enhance know-how management.

 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and complex internal investigations involving potential misconduct, compliance breaches, or ethical concerns. 
  • Gather and analyze evidence, perform root-cause analysis, and prepare investigation reports with clear findings and recommendations.
  • Recommend and monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) where applicable.
  • Partner with Global, Regional, and Local Compliance teams to address compliance matters across business units.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with internal policies, legal requirements, and established procedures.
  • Monitor investigation trends, identify systemic issues, and support risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of investigation methodologies, case handling metrics, and knowledge management practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to investigation resources and stakeholders on investigation-related matters.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Compliance, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Criminology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Compliance, Ethics & Compliance, Internal Investigations, Audit, Legal, Risk Management, or related areas.
  • Fluency in the local language, English, and Portuguese.
  • Experience conducting complex investigations involving sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Knowledge of Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Antitrust, Data Privacy, Conflict of Interest, and Code of Conduct investigations.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CCEP, CFE, CIA, CAMS) are an advantage.
