THE OPPORTUNITY

As Head of Market Access & Public Affairs, you will lead the development and execution of Boehringer Ingelheim's Market Access, Healthcare Affairs, Patient Engagement, Public Affairs, and Government Affairs strategies across Belgium and Luxembourg.

Partnering closely with Human Pharma leadership and Therapeutic Area Heads and the Market Access team, you will shape the external environment to support sustainable patient access, optimal pricing and reimbursement, and business growth.

As a trusted strategic advisor, you will leverage your deep understanding of the healthcare, political, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, partnering with key stakeholders.

You will also play a critical role in supporting business decision-making, representing Market Access & Public Affairs within the Human Pharma Leadership Team, and driving cross-functional collaboration to maximize the value of Boehringer Ingelheim's portfolio and pipeline for patients and healthcare systems.

 

This position is based in Brussels and reports directly to the General Manager / Head of Human Pharma in Belgium.

HOW YOU’LL FIT IN:

  • Develop and lead the Market Access & Public Affairs strategy to secure and optimize pricing, reimbursement, and patient access for Boehringer Ingelheim's current portfolio and pipeline products.
  • Provide strategic counsel to local and regional leadership on healthcare policy, market access, stakeholder engagement, and evolving healthcare landscape trends to support business growth and sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including cross-functional teams, healthcare authorities, payer organizations, policymakers, patient associations, and industry bodies.
  • Drive the development and execution of integrated Market Access & Public Affairs plans across healthcare affairs, patient engagement, public affairs, and market access, ensuring alignment with local and regional priorities.
  • Lead competitive intelligence, healthcare environment monitoring, and data-driven decision-making to identify opportunities, manage risks, and shape business strategy, launch planning, and long-term forecasting.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, coaching, capability building, and excellence in stakeholder engagement, communications, public relations, and crisis management.

 

 

YOU BRING:

  • Diploma/Master degree in Business Administration/Economics/Medicine/Sciences or related field or professional training.
  • At least 6 years experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry in Belgium, especially in health economics, outcomes research, pricing, reimbursement, planning/ developing/ maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in other functions e.g. Marketing, Sales are preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Analytical & entrepreneurial thinking with track record of delivering value to the business
  • Customer oriented, results-oriented, strong team and independent player, open minded and creative.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, both at local & regional level.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, French & Dutch.
