BU Head of Companion Animals

THE OPPORTUNITY
As Business Unit Head of Companion Animals, you will hold overall responsibility for delivering Net Sales and Profit targets while providing clear strategic leadership for all Sales and Marketing activities related to the Companion Animals portfolio at Boehringer Ingelheim.
You will lead and integrate sales, marketing, and technical/professional functions within the Business Unit, guiding multiple brands and sales disciplines through direct reports.
Moreover, as a member of the local Animal Health Leadership Team, you will actively contribute to shaping and delivering the Animal Health Business Plan, strengthening processes and policies that enable sustainable growth.
With a strong focus on customer needs and market insight, you will play a key role in driving Boehringer Ingelheim towards a highly effective, marketing‑driven organization.
This position is based in Brussels (Belgium) and reports directly to the Head of Animal Health in Belgium.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver Net Sales Targets through the development and implementation of a sales, marketing and commercial strategy for the Business Unit (BU)
- Agree upon and supervise sales, marketing and technical team objectives, targets, policies and standards; to have them delivered according to the agreed plans.
- Implementation of a commercial policy for its business, to secure and grow business profitably in line with all local legal requirements.
- Lead, coach, develop and motivate team members to ensure optimal individual/team performance.
- Responsible for an efficient allocation of tasks within the business unit.
- Develop short to medium term strategic plans for all BU brands, integrating sales, marketing and technical activities.
- Implement local strategies and tactics in line with the overall regional (MIDI) strategy and act as a local ambassador as such.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant external stakeholders.
- Responsible for an efficient information transfer and communication with relevant internal stakeholders on BU / OPU / ROPU and International level
- Manage development, improvement and continuous updating of the company CRM system.
- Responsible for the successful organization of external key events involving customers.
- Pro-actively participate in improving the efficiency of internal processes and systems.
- Responsible for the operational and strategic interactions with key wholesalers.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TEAM
- Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Business Administration or Marketing or equivalent related work experience required.
- At least 10 years of marketing & sales experience in the Animal Health industry.
- Strong and credible leadership skills, ability to set direction and motivate team.
- Experience in Strategic Planning for Production Animal portfolio including analysis of external and internal environment.
- Strong in financial forecasting (Sales and Cost Centre budgeting).
- Strong entrepreneurial business skills capable of driving top and bottom line performance.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate excellent cross unit team working.
- Strong business acumen & prioritization skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks for promotion of animal medicines.
- Knowledge of technical aspects of the industry including pharmacovigilance.
- Knowledge of HR processes including recruitment, and management of team members.
- Strategic, analytical, commercial, flexible, initiative, systematic, accurate, stress resistant.
