University Intern - Market Access & Healthcare Affairs - 2 Opportunities

These are 12-month paid internships starting September 2026. The roles are head office based requiring a minimum of 2 days a week to be worked from our office in Winnersh.

 

Salary: £26,000 per annum

POSITION, TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1 x Market Access & Healthcare Affairs

 

Supporting projects and gaining experience of working in the Market Access and Healthcare Affairs department rotating across Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Value & Access and Pricing & Contracting within a top global pharmaceutical company.

 

  • Support contracting and scheduling interviews with external experts to validate Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions and other key Market Access deliverables
  • Support updates to Horizon scanning databases such as UK Pharmascan, and similar requests from relevant bodies
  • Support the Medical & Legal review of Market Access deliverables in the Electronic Approval System, as required
  • Support the continuous monitoring of literature for key UK market access HTA AI, methodology trends, as required
  • Support the development of MAHA related content for integrated business planning process, projects and meetings, as required
  • Support updates and create new editorial content for MAHA intranet site
  • Support price updates and price re-alignment activities as required
  • Monitor price dynamics of relevant products in the market and to support analytics as needed
  • Participate in internal meetings, as required
  • Contribute to internal initiatives for team development, as required

 

1 x Patient Engagement

 

The main purpose of the Patient Engagement team is to lead, drive and coordinate sustainable partnerships between Patient Organisations and the wider patient community and Boehringer to improve patient experiences and outcomes as well as oversee governance and management of our engagement with patient community representatives across the business.

 

  • Support the monitoring and mapping of patient community activities relevant to our various therapeutic areas (TAs) as well as the business as a whole, leveraging the market intelligence tools/resources available to the function
  • Support internal communications activities that promote and elevate the work of the PE team – including the creation and updating of editorial content available on the Boehringer intranet pages that relate specifically to the PE function
  • Contribute to PE-team initiatives for team building and development and work planning – including involvement in developing ways of working and adoption/implementation of tools/processes that support effective delivery of the work of the PE function
  • Support the development of PE-related content for the integrated business planning processes, projects and meetings as required
  • Support the PE team in the delivery of defined project (with potential to be either TA-specific as well business-wide in focus)
  • Support the Medical & Legal review of PE deliverables in the Electronic Approval System, as required
  • Participate in internal (and, where appropriate, external) meetings as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants will be studying for a BSc Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or other Life Sciences degree.
  • 3 A levels at grade ABB (minimum) with at least one grade coming from a science subject.
  • Applicants must have the ability for independent travel to work and other sites.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

  • Strong verbal communication skills within a business environment, able to speak clearly and fluently, expressing opinions information, and key points of an argument with clarity and simplicity.
  • Strong written communication skills, able to write clearly, succinctly and correctly, writes convincingly in an engaging, structured and logical manner, avoiding unnecessary use of jargon or complicated language.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office essential with the ability to adapt knowledge to use Boehringer’s local systems/platforms/technology.
  • Sets clear objectives, plans activities well in advance, manages time effectively, identifying and organising resources needed to accomplish tasks, monitoring performance against deadlines.
  • Able to work as team member, establishing good working relationships, adapting to the team as required; also, able to work as an individual contributor with minimal supervision. Must be highly motivated and have the ability to deliver both within a team environment and independently.
  • Follows instructions from others without unnecessarily challenging authority. Follows procedures and policies, keeping to schedules but remains flexible to changing priorities.
