Tax Manager
THE POSITION
Are you ready to lead the tax function for the UK and Ireland? We're looking for a dynamic individual to manage multiple stakeholder relationships, coordinating with internal teams, offshore shared service centres, and external advisors. You'll ensure high levels of compliance in direct and indirect taxes, handle transfer pricing matters, identifying tax risks and then formulate and implement appropriate solutions.
You'll oversee tax reporting and returns for three legal entities, act as a Financial Business Partner, and provide strategic financial guidance. Collaborate with senior management and BI corporate to support operational strategies and implement tax changes driven by business needs or legislation. Act as the delegate for the Head of FACT on tax reporting topics.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to)
Indirect Tax
• Be accountable and provide oversight to the quarterly/bi-monthly VAT compliance process for the BI UK and Ireland entities. Review the data underpinning the returns and support the shared service centre (SSC) on best practice controls in relation to VAT compliance.
Stakeholder and Activity Management
• Managing the annual corporation tax, indirect tax, withholding tax timetables, alongside the SSC and Corporate Tax Operations, ensuring activities are commenced in good time to allow for timely completion of deliverables and submission to the tax authorities.
• Embed BI processes and identify ways to make tax process, quality and efficiency enhancements in an environment with multiple internal and external parties involved in tax preparation and reporting.
• Where required, liaise with HMRC and Revenue Ireland for any day-to-day tax queries as well as any formal enquiries received from the tax authorities, supported by the SSC.
Transfer Pricing
• Transfer Pricing policies/documents are reviewed to ensure compliance (with relevant local and Corporate documentation), maintained and updated as necessary. Work with tax specialists, both internal and external to BI.
Other Activities
• Preparation of Senior Accounting Officer certificates and notifications as well as updating and performing an annual review of the SAO documentation.
• Manage the annual publication of the BI UK and Ireland Tax Strategy and maintain the tax risks register.
• Monitor and assess for new UK and Ireland direct and indirect tax regulations and where relevant lead workstreams for the implementation of new rules with support from external advisors.
• Monitor HMRC and Revenue Ireland online accounts to ensure tax payments made are accurately reflected in HMRC records, requesting Certificates of Tax Residency from HMRC and Revenue Ireland (on demand)
• Preparation of tax forecast figures for Long Term and current/next year Forecasts.
• Reviewing and commenting on tax general ledger accounts as part of Financial Statement reviews.
• Review tax balance sheet accounts and liaise with SSC on any queries.
• Identify tax risks and take mitigating action to ensure ongoing compliance
REQUIREMENTS
• Relevant qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent) with 5 years+ tax experience
• Tax experience in large professional services firm is desirable.
• Excellent UK and Ireland corporation tax accounting and technical knowledge
• Working knowledge of SAP and Corporate tax reporting tools
• Experience of R&D tax credits, capital allowances and indirect taxes
• Pharmaceutical Industry knowledge is helpful but not essential
