Senior Medical Signatory Business Partner
THE POSITION
We are now hiring a Senior Medical Signatory Business Partner for our UK & Ireland Human Pharma. This senior specialist role leads the compliant medical review and certification of promotional and non‑promotional materials in line with ABPI/IPHA Codes, UK/IE regulations and BI SOPs.
This Leadership role works in close partnership with Franchise and cross‑functional teams, providing expert Code, medical and ethical guidance to support effective planning, decision‑making and execution of compliant external engagement and commercial activities across the UK & Ireland business.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Medical Review & Certification
- Deliver timely, high‑quality medical review and certification of promotional and non‑promotional materials in line with ABPI/IPHA Codes, UK/IE law and BI SOPs.
- Provide clear, pragmatic and Code‑aligned guidance for effective campaigns, projects and external engagement.
Code Governance & Expert Leadership
- Apply deep therapeutic and Code expertise to support compliant communication and partnership activities.
- Advise project owners from concept to execution, including innovative cross‑Franchise initiatives.
- Identify and proactively escalate high‑impact risks related to timelines, processes or Code interpretation.
Training, Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing
- Deliver Code‑related training and lead mentoring for trainee Signatories.
- Develop and update guidance materials to support day‑to‑day compliant decisions and strategic approval topics.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, Code updates and Code Case precedents.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Influence
- Partner closely with Franchise, Medical Affairs, Partnerships, Market Access, Government Affairs, Customer Excellence, Global Medicine, Clinical and Regulatory teams.
- Provide senior input into ICD cases and Code complaints, escalating when required.
- Support efficient, aligned ways of working between global stakeholders and local teams.
Compliance, Ethics & Governance
- Uphold BI’s ethical, legal and compliance standards across all activities.
- Ensure full alignment with Legal, Compliance and Medical policies and UK/IE regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of integrity, ethical behaviour and continuous compliance improvement.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Registered medical practitioner (GMC) or UK‑registered pharmacist.
- Qualified Medical Signatory (PMCPA/MHRA).
- For GMC physicians: active licence to practise and revalidation.
- Specialist accreditation in Pharmaceutical Medicine is an advantage.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a qualified Medical Signatory, ideally in a senior or leadership capacity.
- Strong expertise in applying ABPI/IPHA Codes across complex, high‑impact projects.
- Ability to interpret, assess and manage complex Code issues across therapy areas and business functions.
- Deep understanding of medical data, therapy area developments, healthcare environment and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to influence, collaborate and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Experience supporting or leading ICD cases and Code complaints.
- Strong capability to act as a strategic business partner, enabling informed, compliant decision‑making.
- Experience delivering Code training and mentoring trainee Signatories.
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to manage competing priorities and thrive in a fast‑paced, complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical behaviour, compliance integrity and high professional standards.
