Real World Evidence Lead (Cardio Renal Metabolic)

THE POSITION

As Real World Evidence Lead (Cardio Renal Metabolic - CRM), you will lead the design and implementation of a major evidence-generation programme within the CRM area. The role will support healthcare decision-making, market access and patient outcomes across the UK and Ireland, while also contributing to global scientific priorities. A key focus will be the design and delivery of a large study exploring patients’ experiences and outcomes associated with treatment. You will bring strong expertise in patient-reported outcomes, surveys and decentralised study approaches, combining scientific rigour with practical delivery across internal teams and external partners.

The position is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. The role requires regular onsite presence at our Winnersh Head Office, with a minimum of 2 days per week spent working onsite.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the design, implementation and delivery of complex, high-quality real-world evidence and epidemiological studies that address UK, Ireland and global evidence needs. 
• Identify evidence gaps and translate them into clear research questions, fit-for-purpose study designs, appropriate data sources and robust analytical approaches. 
• Design and implement a large cardio-renal-metabolic study, with a strong focus on understanding patients’ experiences and outcomes associated with treatment. 
• Lead the selection and use of patient-reported outcome measures, surveys and decentralised study approaches where appropriate. 
• Provide scientific and operational leadership throughout the full study lifecycle, including concept development, protocol writing, internal approval, analysis, reporting and publication. 
• Work closely with UK, Ireland and global colleagues across Medical, Market Access, Health Systems Engagement, Franchise and Corporate Epidemiology teams to align evidence-generation priorities. 
• Manage external partners, including CROs, academic collaborators, data partners and other vendors, ensuring studies are delivered to agreed quality, timelines and budgets. 
• Communicate study findings clearly to scientific, clinical, commercial, policy and executive audiences, and lead dissemination through abstracts, posters, presentations and peer-reviewed manuscripts. 
• Ensure all studies comply with company policies, governance and privacy requirements, applicable regulations, BI SOPs and the ABPI and IPHA Codes of Practice. 
• Manage competing priorities across a portfolio of studies while maintaining high scientific standards, effective stakeholder engagement and efficient use of resources. 

REQUIREMENTS

• A degree or equivalent qualification in mathematics, statistics or a related scientific discipline, together with a relevant postgraduate qualification such as an MSc or PhD in Epidemiology or a related field. 
• Extensive experience leading real-world evidence projects. 
• Strong practical expertise in epidemiology, real-world evidence methods, study design, medical statistics and the analysis of large healthcare datasets. 
• Proven experience delivering epidemiological studies from research proposal and protocol development through to analysis, reporting and publication. 
• Pharmaceutical industry experience and experience overseeing CROs, academic collaborators, data partners or other external vendors. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly to varied audiences. 
• Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, with a collaborative and proactive working style. 
• The ability to prioritise effectively and work across a portfolio of complex studies. 
• Direct experience in obesity and/or cardio-renal-metabolic disease research would be highly desirable. 
• Knowledge of UK real-world data sources and the UK healthcare environment would be beneficial.
• Experience designing and delivering patient-reported outcome or survey-based research would be advantageous.
