General Accountant

THE POSITION

This role is part of the FACT (Finance, Accounting, Controlling & Tax) team and focuses on the delivery of accurate and compliant financial accounting and reporting for UK and Ireland entities. The position plays a key role in ensuring high‑quality month end reporting, balance sheet integrity and tax analysis, while providing reliable financial information to both internal and external stakeholders. Working closely with finance colleagues, auditors and tax partners, the role supports financial compliance, transparency and informed business decision‑making across the organisation.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

The person in this role will be responsible for providing financial information to relevant Business Functions and key stakeholders both internally and externally within the assigned scope. In particular, the role includes:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely month‑end close, including postings, repostings, detailed financial analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Leading the maintenance and accuracy of the relevant sections of the balance sheet & income statement on an ongoing basis including payroll accounting
  • Reviewing, reconciling and maintaining key balance sheet accounts, such as provisions, payroll and prepayments
  • Performing monthly and quarterly reviews of financial statements, identifying material movements and initiating corrective actions where required
  • Supporting statutory reporting processes for UK and Ireland entities, including preparation of accounts under UK GAAP and German GAAP and support during audits
  • Cooperating with external auditors and professional advisors to ensure statutory, corporate and regulatory requirements are met within required deadlines
  • Supporting tax compliance and reporting by providing relevant data and analysis and cooperating with tax stakeholders and shared service centres
  • Advising finance and functional management on the financial and accounting implications of projects, including accounting standards and statutory considerations
  • Ensuring compliance with internal processes, standard operating procedures, accounting guidelines and external regulations
  • Providing general finance support and cover within the team and contributing to knowledge sharing and collaboration within the wider finance community

 

Requirements

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Solid experience in financial accounting, including balance sheet review, reconciliation and management
  • Knowledge of UK and German GAAP and their application in statutory and corporate reporting
  • Experience with payroll accounting and related balance sheet accounts
  • Experience working with accounting systems (e.g. SAP) and advanced use of MS Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Ability to analyse and interpret financial data from multiple sources and translate it into clear conclusions
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal business English communication skills
  • Degree‑level education or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, with a proactive and structured approach to work

 

Please note: our office is currently located in Bracknell but will soon be relocating to the Winnersh Triangle Business Park.
