The Position

We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist with a broad technical skillset. In this position, you will contribute to turning an ever-increasing amount of diverse data from insights over prototypes to productionized tools that support the discovery and development of novel therapies.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site.
This position is part time eligible with 80 %.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role you will collaborate closely with scientists and domain experts on challenging problems in drug discovery, translating scientific questions into data-driven approaches, leading project sub-streams related to AI/ML.
- You will develop and evaluate Machine Learning and Data Science prototypes, leveraging modern ML/DL paradigms and high-quality data (e.g. imaging, clinical, and other biomedical data modalities).
- Furthermore, you will work in cross-functional teams with data engineers, software developers and other experts to drive the implementation of scalable solutions.
- You will identify promising data science and analytics prototypes and help transform them into scalable AI/ML solutions that create continuous value for Pharma R&D.
- Moreover, you will anticipate and internalize trends in Machine Learning/AI, including input from other industries, explore disruptive technologies and explore opportunities for transformative use cases in pharma R&D.
- You will collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to deliver AI/ML workstreams and contribute to advancing the discipline through networking, collaboration, experimentation and best-practice dissemination.
Requirements
- PhD in computer science, mathematics, physics, life sciences or a related field with several years of relevant professional experience
- Strong expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Data Science with profound experience in common Python-based tool stacks
- Experience in modern ML paradigms such as foundation models or multimodal learning with exposure to biomedical data domains as well as experience with modern software development practices, cloud-based computing environments and ML deployment concepts
- First experiences with MLOps concepts and production-oriented AI/ML development, combined with the ability to quickly learn new scientific topics and apply AI/ML approaches effectively
- Experience collaborating across functions and working with diverse stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions and first experience in leading cross-functional project sub-streams
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate AI/ML trends and translate them into actionable opportunities, combined with a strong problem-solving mindset, curiosity and a collaborative, can-do attitude
