Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will scientifically review requests for biomarker discovery & quantitation, will align the purpose and path-forward with our partners in project teams
- Furthermore, you will lead the design, execution, and analysis of proteomics experiments, including Biomarker discovery, targeted quantification, PTM identification, or interactome determination.
- You will be using Omics-platforms for translational topics, NTC confirmation, functional validation and MoA elucidation in alignment with our research & development partners.
- Moreover, a major aspect of this role involves practical lab work, including generating and analyzing proteomics samples, as well as operating and maintaining various LC-MS systems.
- With your high interest in innovative approaches, you will challenge the ‘status quo’ and further advance the scientific and proteomics workflows.
- In addition, you will educate and train Boehringer Ingelheim colleagues in proteomic analysis and continue to develop scientific and drug development expertise.
Requirements
- Completed Master’s degree /Phd in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline with several years of relevant hands-on experience with data-independent acquisition (DIA) workflows on a Thermo orbitrap Astral mass spectrometer. First insights into drug discovery programs within the pharma industry is beneficial.
- Experience with state-of-the-art proteomics workflows as well as experience in sample preparation from cells and tissues for LC-MS analyses. First experience with characterizing disease-relevant animal models for translational aspects is a plus.
- Solid understanding of biochemistry, molecular mechanisms, and pharmacology relevant to drug discovery as well as conceptual understanding of biomarkers in drug discovery and development paired with first experience in this field
- Expertise in operating cutting-edge mass spectrometry platforms (Orbitrap, QTOF, etc.) and expert understanding of respective analysis software
- Analytical mindset, with a keen interest in advancing proteomic methodologies and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment
- Critical and creative thinking, self-motivated to innovate
- Excellent data analysis and data management skills, as well as presentation skills
- Fluent written and spoken English and German (a plus)
