The Position

Join our dynamic Development Team for intravitreal dosage forms (IVT) at Boehringer Ingelheim's Biberach site as a Scientist. You'll play a pivotal role in the development of groundbreaking ocular Drug Delivery Technologies, contributing to the entire drug product development cycle of the Therapeutic Area Mental Health, Eye Health and Emerging Areas.

This position is part time eligible with 80 %.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will actively contribute to project work in CMC development of parenteral drug products, with a particular focus on formulation and analytics for early-stage long-acting intravitreal delivery systems.
  • You will also design scientific technology and innovation projects for intravitreal applications and execute them experimentally in close collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • You will take on the functional leadership of a CMC deliverable or sub‑team and will be responsible for defined work packages from planning through execution.
  • In addition, you will develop sound concepts for formulation and process development together with project representatives and document them in a structured and traceable manner.
  • You will lead scientific and technical staff, and support the supervision of interns, PhD candidates, and postdocs in their projects.
  • Furthermore, you will research and evaluate current scientific literature, identify potential new applications, and present relevant insights within the IVT Development group.

Requirements

  • A completed master’s degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, or a comparable field, ideally with a specialization in pharmaceutical technology and several years of relevant professional experience; a PhD in pharmaceutical technology is an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of intravitreal drug delivery formulations is considered an advantage, ideally complemented by practical experience in their manufacture.
  • In‑depth expertise in fundamental pharmaceutical unit operations for drug product manufacturing, particularly in the field of parenteral products; familiarity with modern product‑characterization analytical techniques is desirable.
  • Hands‑on experience in melt extrusion as well as polymer‑based extended‑release systems is a strong advantage.
  • High scientific competence, a structured working style, and the ability to analytically address complex scientific questions.
  • Confident professional demeanor and business‑fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken.
