Postdoc IVT Formulation Development
The Position
Within the Global Development CMC NCE department, the IVT Development team at the Biberach site is seeking a postdoctoral researcher at the earliest possible start date. If you enjoy working in a highly motivated team on scientific challenges in the field of intravitreal drug delivery systems, while also contributing to routine work packages, we would be happy to welcome you to our team.
Our key interfaces across development and research include the departments of Analytics, Drug Discovery Sciences (DDS), Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK), Material and Analytical Sciences (MAS), and Non-clinical Drug Safety (NDS). In this role, you will make a significant contribution to the exploration of new drug candidates for challenging New Chemical Entities (NCEs) and support development activities for new molecules.
This position is limited for 2 years.
Note: To make it easier to find our job advertisements, we use the usual designation "postdoc". Of course, this advertisement is not only addressed to applicants directly after completing their doctorate, but to all qualified candidates.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will independently plan, execute, and evaluate lab experiments.
- You will perform DOE-based formulation screenings.
- Furthermore, you will apply state-of-the-art pharmaceutical technologies for sustained-release formulations (e.g., hot melt extrusion, co-extrusion, spray drying).
- You will also optimize, implement and scientifically characterize manufacturing processes for intravitreal drug delivery systems, e.g., automation or semi-automation of manual manufacturing processes.
- Moreover, you will assess the administrability of the developed systems, for example in terms of viscosity and injection forces, from the point of view of the application route.
- You will conduct literature reviews and effectively integrate new scientific findings into your development work.
- In addition, you will collaborate closely within multidisciplinary teams across various scientific disciplines and actively contribute to interdisciplinary knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- PhD in Pharmacy, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
- Solid knowledge in the development and manufacturing of drug products as well as in instrumental analytics
- Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration at interfaces with research and development (e.g., DMPK, NDS, Analytics)
- Strong communication skills and high team orientation in a cross-functional environment
- Independent, structured, and self-reliant way of working
- Ability to prepare and present results in a target audience-oriented manner across different expert teams
