PostDoc - Pharmaceutical Scientist

The Position

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and innovative Postdoctoral Scientist in Protein & Pharmaceutical Science/Technology to join our Drug Product Development Biologicals department located in Biberach, Germany. As project lead and principal investigator, you will drive projects related to the stabilization of protein formulations and analytics. You will innovate in novel drug delivery systems and dosage forms for biologicals for the benefit of patients.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 4 days per week on site.
This Position is limited for 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • As a scientific expert, you will support drug product pharmaceutical formulation development of therapeutic proteins.
  • You will examine new liquid and semi-liquid protein dosage forms (e.g. XR), considering stability and process thereof as well as providing enlarged knowledge related to the stabilization mechanism.
  • Furthermore, you will elaborate the colloidal stability and properties of highly concentrated protein dosage forms.
  • Additionally, you will identify and evaluate advanced analytical, biophysical, and computational tools to build up rational development approaches for the investigated formulations.
  • As project leader and principal investigator, you will drive the implementation of your results as well as identify new technologies in the respective areas.
  • The publication of the results in peer-reviewed journals and the presentation of your work at scientific conferences rounds out your profile.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in chemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or similar disciplines
  • Proven expertise in protein and colloidal/formulation sciences, dissolution set-ups, strong skills in analytics (e.g., chromatography, spectroscopy, thermal and/or scattering techniques), computational tools and pharmaceutical technology, e.g. spray drying
  • Knowledge in the development of dosage forms such as sustained release formulations, amorphous solid dispersions or highly concentrated biological formulations
  • Proven experience in conducting and publishing creative and innovative research projects
  • Proactive mindset for identifying new improvement opportunities and anticipating future challenges as well as organizational and analytical skills
  • Team player with good communication skills and willingness to work in cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in German and English
