Post Doc - Process Modelling and Applied Data Sciences
The Position
Shape the digital transformation at Boehringer Ingelheim's largest R&D location. Join and complement an enthusiastic team of information scientists and develop together with our scientists AI-supported state-of-the-art models for drug product manufacturing processes in Pharmaceutical Development.
This Position is limited for 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will develop, implement and evaluate state-of-the-art process models within drug product manufacturing processes in Pharmaceutical Development for solid oral and parenteral dosage forms.
- You will be responsible for design, implementation, and evaluation of first principles and machine learning models for unit operations in Pharmaceutical Development including co-operation with external partners.
- Furthermore, you will collaborate with drug development experts and utilize process models to guide efficient design of experiments.
- You will improve data structures and data integrity for relevant data sources in Pharmaceutical Development and define data flows to enable integrated data analysis.
- The interdisciplinary collaboration to develop digital strategies and roadmaps for drug development, e.g. efficient use of digital twins, will be also part of your attractive position.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in process engineering, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, computer science, physics, applied mathematics or similar with a substantial publication record
- Expertise in mechanistic modelling and experience in process optimization or process control
- Know-how in current programming languages, e.g. Matlab, Python, Julia or R, and experience in process and numerical simulation software, e.g. ASPEN, GROMACS, CFD, DEM
- Knowledge in data science, statistics and machine learning would be beneficial
- Teamwork and communication skills with the ability to steer and lead interdisciplinary projects
- Scientific mindset, analytical skills, quick comprehension of complex problems
- Fluent language skills in English are mandatory, German language skills is a plus
