Post Doc - Information Scientist for Raman Technology

The Position

Work at the intersection of analytics and biologics innovation! 

We're seeking an ambitious Post Doc to join our Pharmaceutical Development Unit in Biberach and explore the potential of Raman spectroscopy as novel analytical tool in formulation development of biologicals. Your work will help shape the future of biologics formulation by generating high-impact data and insights from cutting-edge analytical techniques.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 3-4 days per week on site.

This Position is limited for 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will lead and execute an innovative project focused on implementing Raman spectroscopy as a high-throughput tool in biologics formulation development, managing timelines, goals, and budget.
  • With your expertise, will prepare samples, conduct Raman measurements, and evaluate the data to assess the suitability of this technology for characterizing biologic drug formulations.
  • Additionally, you will develop and optimize high-throughput measurement and evaluation routines, integrating chemometric methods for raw data processing and model building.
  • Moreover, you will compare Raman spectroscopy results with conventional analytical techniques and explore their potential for advanced kinetic modeling.
  • You will ensure the delivery of high-quality data, presentations, and reports internal and external.
  • Finally, you will serve as a key contact for cross-functional interfaces such as Downstream- and Analytical Development, ensuring excellent communication with project teams, line management, and external partners or academic collaborators.


Requirements

  • PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry, process engineering, data science, pharmaceutical sciences, analytical chemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, or a related discipline  
  • Hands-on experience with spectroscopic techniques, ideally Raman spectroscopy, and their application in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical development
  • Solid understanding of protein structure-property relationships and analytical protein characterization 
  • Strong skills in Data analysis, scientific computing; experience with Python, R, chemometrics and machine learning are a plus 
  • Independently managing scientific projects and interdisciplinary collaboration 
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills in English; German is a plus
