This position is part time eligible with min.80 %.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will lead a motivated team of up to three technicians in an in vivo research laboratory, supporting the Cardiovascular and Sarcopenia pipeline.
- With your expertise you will act as a research project leader of drug discovery projects in close collaborations with other disciplines, including target discovery sciences, medicinal chemistry, NBE discovery and drug discovery sciences.
- Furthermore, you will design and supervise in vivo efficacy studies to support projects of our Cardiovascular and Sarcopenia pipeline, and you will shape and drive the overarching in vivo test strategy.
- Moreover, you will set up and validation of new in vivo models that mirror the human pathophysiology of heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke and sarcopenia.
- Based on your scientific expertise, you will propose new therapeutic concepts for the treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases and/or Sarcopenia.
- You will be responsible for the in vivo testing of new molecular entities (e.g. small molecules, peptides, antibodies, si/saRNA approaches) in disease relevant models.
- In addition, you will design and oversee preclinical studies at CROs and academia, and lead collaborations to advance science.
- Finally, you will work in a multidisciplinary team with members from various scientific backgrounds.
Requirements
- PhD degree in biology, biochemistry or molecular pharmacology, DVM, or MD with several years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or in an academic environment
- Several years of experience in preclinical echocardiography, telemetry and/or in vivo models of muscle physiology are a plus
- Expert knowledge in design, supervision and interpretation of preclinical in vivo studies with a focus on rodent models; ideally experience in writing German applications for animal experiments
- Good knowledge of in vivo pharmacology with a strong background in Cardiovascular Diseases and/or Sarcopenia
- Scientific excellence, demonstrated by a track record of publications in scientific journals
- Excellent oral communication skills, as well as fluency in spoken and written English are mandatory; good language skills in German and the willingness to improve them further is a plus
