Internship / Master's Thesis - Raman Spectroscopy Implementation

The Position:

Are you looking for an exciting challenge during your studies in an internationally successful company that has been awarded as one of the “Global Top Employers” several times? We offer you the opportunity to apply, deepen, and expand the knowledge you have gained during your studies in our Global Development CMC Biologicals department.

Apply now for an internship in Biberach!

You will gain an insight into the following topics and areas of activities:

  • Our department is part of the development of manufacturing processes for new biopharmaceutical active substances, supporting their transition from early research to final medicinal products.
  • One focus of the laboratory is the application of optical analytical technologies, particularly Raman spectroscopy, for real-time inline monitoring of downstream purification processes.
  • As part of this internship, you will contribute to the development and implementation of Raman spectroscopy applications and conduct experiments to characterize biopharmaceutical molecules using various methods.
  • You will independently plan and execute experiments in close coordination with your supervisor.
  • You will apply programming tools for data processing, analysis, and interpretation.

Your Profile:

  • Master’s student in a natural science discipline such as biotechnology, bioengineering, biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics, physics, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience working with protein (antibody) materials; familiarity with protein purification, analytical techniques (such as UV/Vis, HPLC), and automated liquid handling systems is preferred.
  • Ideally, initial experience with Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and Raman or other spectroscopic methods; knowledge of chemometrics, multivariate data analysis, or machine learning is a strong advantage.
  • Good programming skills (e.g., Python) and proficient use of MS Office.
  • A proactive, structured, and team-oriented working style, with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

What we can offer you:

  • As a student intern, you can expect a fair expense allowance (payment of the currently valid minimum wage)
  • While working on your thesis, you will receive a monthly payment of €900
  • You will be given 2.5 days of paid time off for every full month of the internship
  • A full-time internship is 37.5 hours a week (a smaller number of hours can be arranged)

The duration of the internship/thesis is 9 months. The start of the internship can be made several times a year. The earliest start date is currently August 1, 2026. Please enter the desired period in your application.
