Associate Director Pharmacometrics Neuroscience & Mental Health and Eye Health

The Position

This position is a globally acting managerial role in Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences Therapeutic Area Mental Health, Eye Health & Emerging Areas.
It combines scientific excellence, strategic and practical guidance on model-informed drug development (MIDD) and leadership to a dynamic and highly engaged team of pharmacometricians based in Ingelheim and Biberach, who develop and implement clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics strategies and execute integrated pharmacometric analyses in a GxP environment.

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site.

This position is part time eligible with 75%.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will mentor and guide your team of Pharmacometrics Leads to plan, execute, and report innovative holistic pharmacometric strategies and analyses targeted towards specific portfolio needs and development stage of an investigational drug.
  • Moreover, aligned with therapeutic area priorities, you will work closely with the functional head and the global pharmacometrics organization to champion innovative pharmacometric strategies across pipeline assets, leveraging synergies and driving scientific excellence to maximize pipeline success.
  • You will represent the function in internal and external meetings, committees, and expert panels.
  • Furthermore, you will manage the people development, including effective talent management and goal setting, in alignment with Boehringer Ingelheim leadership principles.
  • You will enable transparent and effective communication, foster exchange of knowledge and experience within the area of responsibility, with neighboring areas and interfaces within Boehringer.
  • Additionally, you will serve as Pharmacometrics Lead for selected projects and represent the CPS Therapeutic Area within the Innovation Team as well as coordinate and integrate input from all CPS functions to ensure a cohesive and impactful contribution.
  • You will ensure compliance with SOPs, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations such as GCP and relevant laws.

Requirements

  • PhD or MD in Pharmacometrics, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biology, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines with longstanding experience in pharmacometrics applied to preclinical/clinical development
  • Specific knowledge in application of innovative model-informed drug development (MIDD) approaches to drug development in Mental Health and/or Eye Health, e.g. for dose selection/optimization of brain-targeting and/or intravitreally administered NCEs or NBEs
  • Sound knowledge of preclinical and clinical drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably including NDA/BLA submissions; Know-How with applicable laws, regulatory guidelines and requirements, e.g. GCP and ICH guidelines
  • Knowledge in related fields of life science and/or medicine, e.g. clinical pharmacology, data sciences, translational medicine, biomarkers, DMPK, safety sciences medical etc is a plus
  • Demonstrated matrix leadership and project management skills within a multidisciplinary, global and complex setting; experience in people management is a plus
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and time management skills paired with intercultural experience and problem-solving abilities
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written
