Portfolio Key Account Manager (Region Mid&West), (m/f/d)

The position

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead and elevate Key Account Management across Region MID&WEST (German and French-speaking), ensuring a cohesive customer experience and broad, timely patient access. This role is responsible for shaping and executing Key Account strategies across the full portfolio, providing strong lateral leadership to colleagues engaged within the same accounts. The ideal candidate brings exceptional lateral management skills and the ability to harness cross‑functional insights to drive timely formulary inclusion and co‑create initiatives that strengthen care pathways.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Serve as the “owner” and accountable lead for the assigned accounts, driving the development and execution of assigned Key Account plans
  • Provide effective lateral leadership to all colleagues involved
  • Partner with priority accounts to co-develop high‑impact initiatives that streamline care pathways, elevate patient outcomes, and contribute to robust real‑world evidence.
  • Secure timely formulary inclusion and maximize uptake of BI medicines by analyzing and synthesizing insights from multiple sources to understand each account’s potential, pressures, and holistic needs
  • Build trustful relationships with key accounts through ongoing collaboration centered on improving patient outcomes and delivering joint value for the customer and Boehringer Ingelheim

Requirements

  • At least 8 years in pharmaceutical sales, market access, or key account management
  • Strong knowledge of Swiss healthcare system, hospital procurement, reimbursement processes, in combination with a strong network with accounts in region MID&WEST
  • Very strong negotiations and communication skills, coupled with the ability to develop clear and crisp account plans
  • Proven track record of leading diverse teams laterally and a strong cross‑functional mindset: highly skilled in coordinating across internal teams and Business Units to deliver a seamless, unified customer experience.
  • Proven track record of successful development and implementation of multi-stakeholder projects in the healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in French, German and English is a must; Italian is considered a plus

Boehringer Ingelheim Switzerland:

  • This is a field-based role in Region MID&WEST - a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within Switzerland is required
  • Nevertheless, a strong collaboration with the office-based colleagues as well as regular presence in the office of Boehringer Ingelheim Switzerland in Basel is expected
