SR Principal Engineer, Project Management

The Senior Principal Engineer, Project Management will drive and execute key strategic projects - related to process engineering, project execution, project coordination, project reporting, project qualification, project start-up, and project training. This role interacts with key stakeholders (global leaders, local leaders, and local GFE/operations) to ensure smooth project transition from design, to build, to qualify, to train, and to start-up.
Duties & Responsibilities
Project Design:
- Drives the process engineering activities related to key strategic projects - this includes leading the engineering efforts for both internal and external engineering.
- Drives the facility engineering efforts related to utilities, power, and equipment layout.
- Leads the automation efforts for the strategic projects that ensures the equipment is integrated and functions as one unit.
- Ensures the process, facility, and automation engineering comes together successful to meet overall strategic aspects of the project (headcount, efficiency, productivity, etc.)
Project Planning/Tracking/Reporting:
- Actively steers project timely related to engineering planning, execution, and communication
- Oversees the overall engineering execution between internal/external stakeholders.
- Ensures the engineering budget is managed, steered related to cost, timing, and expected level of quality.
- Routinely manages/reports the project to ensure full transparency, have clear milestones, synchronize the engineering tasks with other stakeholders related to quality, costs, sourcing, etc.
- Communicates clearly with site leadership team, project team, and global stakeholders project status, risks, mitigations, next steps.
Project Execution:
- Ensures engineering execution continues as planned.
- Steers engineering to ensure risks/delays are understood, mitigated and communicated.
- As needed, organizes key stakeholders to facilitate solutions to keep project moving forward.
- Drives the execution to ensure the deliverables are clear and articulated (if needed use tier board or similar visual performance process).
Project Qualification:
- Ensures the project is qualified per design related to equipment, capacity, capabilities, quality, automation, layout, efficiency, productivity.
- Aligns with key stakeholders to ensure right level of qualifications are performed.
- Ensures documentation, change control, and digital tracking requirements are completed.
- Partners with operations/quality/sourcing and any other necessary function to ensure qualification process is aligned, clear, and completed per expectations.
Project Start-up:
- Ensures the project start-up goes smoothly between engineering deliverables, qualification, expectations, and operations team.
- Supports operational training of the project.
- Ensures both classroom and hands-on training is performed at a level to perform timely and seamless start-up.
- Partners with operational leaders to support shift work (if required) to support training/start-up/documentation. Includes creating/reviewing/approving documentation of batch records/procedure.
Leadership:
- May directly and/or indirectly lead up to seven (7) Barceloneta personnel connected to engineering, operations, or other pertinent area necessary to steer successful project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. MBA preferred.
- At least five (5) years Animal/ Human Health industry knowledge (e.g. Consulting, engineering, operational leadership, business excellence improvements) Including influencing or leading others.
- Global Supply Animal health / human pharmaceutical business experience, with significant technical/engineering/operations experience for the manufacturing of GMP products
- Must have experience with advanced problem–solving, project coordination, and steering a culture to deliver the project on-time, within budget, and to meet expected deliverables.
- Should be able to demonstrate project / program ROI results from previous experience.
- Ability to successfully steer, report, facilitate, challenge, and deliver technical projects on-time and meet the strategic deliverables.
- Demonstrated engineering and automation knowledge to serve as a technical partner on a broad range of operational topics.
- Project management experience and ability to oversee multiple projects running simultaneously and provide quality control and guidance on projects
- Demonstrated ability to bridge strategic and operational thinking, translating strategy into operational tactics
- Knowledge of operations management tactics to ensure project plan can be translated into operational reality.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
