The Materials and Inventory Control Manager is responsible for leading the Purchase Team of direct materials and managing the Inventory Control of Finish Goods, Intermediates, Raw Materials and Packaging Components. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining inventory targets for internal goals and VMI levels. The incumbent will be responsible for management of performing accurate and timely analysis of the Material Resource Planning MRP) in SAP to manage supply of material including planning and procuring of materials based on master production schedules and creating monthly purchasing planning schedules for Warehouse and Quality areas considering their capacities.
The Materials and Inventory Control Manager is responsible for analyzing existing production materials inventories to identify and prevent IQV items, slow movers, revaluations, expiration and obsolete materials. This role is responsible for issuing materials forecast, purchase orders, tracking orders, resolving discrepancies in orders or accounts, monitoring the performance of suppliers and issuing OTIF reports. The incumbent is responsible to update monthly production schedules based on material status, maintain accurate master data in SAP system, establish depletion plan for art changes and meet current inventory policy. This position serves as liaison between groups such as Suppliers, Quality and Sourcing areas. for the integrity of inventory for finished goods, raw materials, intermediate and components, and supporting systems for the applicable warehouses including 3rd party inventory.
The Materials and Inventory Control Manager will support domestic and international finished goods order management and distribution including outbound deliveries. This role is responsible for creating, tracking and reporting relevant analytics and KPIs. The incumbent will determine and enforce site best practice for processing routine and non-routine material transactions within the ERP system.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining high standards for personnel performance, training and development in accordance with the personnel policies of the company, establishing a high level of morale, and teamwork throughout the department.
- Makes use of work teams, and weekly communication meetings.
- Implements departmental policies & procedures in accordance with company policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
- The Manager is highly technical with ERP Inventory Management Systems and leads activities related to the integrity of inventory accuracy throughout supply chain by establishing best practices with SAP inventory transaction processes to support financial and business strategies and objectives. This includes the balancing of the Warehouse for local and 3rd party Inventory Management in SAP, reconciliations, and root cause analysis of reconciliations.
- Leads large departmental or cross functional projects pertaining to material flow and supporting SAP system support and improvements. Site Lead for relevant SAP updates, site training for cross stream functions and transactional system support.
- Leads day-to-day technical support to Physical Distribution Operations and Site Warehousing Operations, and Production Operations.
- Identifies & leads implementation of potential technology and process improvement opportunities to improve Agility and efficiency in anticipation of evolving business requirements.
- Leads department in the completion of departmental initiatives that align and support the company's overall strategy.
- Responsible for periodic and ad hoc business analyses and KPI's as requested.
- Provides documentation and responses for auditor requests in an accurate and timely manner to the audit lead. No audit findings pertaining to Inventory Control.
- Acts as a back-up to direct reports to assure consistent operations of routine and critical functions.
Leads direct materials purchasing activities that include:
- Analyzing MRP SAP system to ensure accuracy and updates information and entries on a weekly basis.
- Creating purchase requisitions in SAP system.
- Preparing production material forecast reports to ensure that purchasing contracts can be updated.
- Negotiating credits with supplier and/or markets.
- Creating schedules for Warehouse and Quality areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in related Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in purchasing and inventory management with a minimum of four (4) years of management experience.
- APICS certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop others.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead and follow systematic continuous improvement methodologies and the willingness to identify, define, and implement process improvements.
- Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, and database management required.
- Must be detail oriented, able to work with minimal supervision and self-motivated to utilize resources to troubleshoot as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple on-going projects with aggressive deadlines.
- Strong proofreading skills along with excellent communication and written capabilities.
- Must be proficient in MS office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Must be able to readily learn and quickly become proficient in all software applications utilized for packaging equipment and operations.

- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
