The Manager, Planning is responsible for evaluating global demand, production capacity analysis, communicating to the customers (BOPU) and Ingelheim for distributors confirmations of demand supply, supervising, controlling and administering all functional phases of the planning operations for Nexgard and Heartgard value streams. This role manages and motivates direct reports to achieve planned objectives. The incumbent is responsible for performing and/or managing all the planning activities of manufacturing and packaging, inventory and materials management, and In Line Extensions implementation for Barceloneta site.

The Manager, Planning coordinates and interprets projected sales and inventories to production plans, financial budget and production resources utilization. The incumbent develops and implements production plans and schedules for the site supply chain. This role will report on key performance indicators as well as design and maintain up to date the appropriate planning tools. The position holder is responsible for the planning of all direct materials to support production plans.

The Manager, Planning is the main contact with Global Supply Chain. Support Total Quality, Safety, and Environmental compliance in the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complies with Production Service Level and Customer Service goals.
  • Maintains local management and global groups updated on changes in forecast and planning strategies, and alerts about potential problems that may disrupt effective product distribution from Nexgard and Heartgard value streams.
  • Supports manufactured and packaged product sales.
  • Supports inventory target of raw materials and packaging components at the site.
  • Provides input and analyzes plant execution throughout the Sales & Operating Planning process.
  • Responsible for providing a feasible rolling 12 months production plan based on sales forecast, actual& target finished goods inventory levels, raw materials and components availability; labor and machine capacity; approved lead times, and profit plan.
  • Responsible for providing a feasible material requirement plan for the different product stages of two value streams based on plan agreements between the site and the customers, considering established lead times.
  • Communicates the materials requirements plan to the purchasing area including active ingredients, raw materials and packaging components on a timely basis.
  • Maintains daily communication with the customer via SAP Direct Link/emails and with Ingelheim for distributors to align requisitions to the supply plan based on production capacity analysis.
  • Provides full support to supply chain initiatives and communication between sites.
  • Prepares detail schedules for manufacturing, packaging, shipping and releases of Nexgard and Heartgard.
  • Supervises schedule approval and implementation process.
  • Monitors printed components changes and coordinates changes in a manner that support production requirements while minimizing discards.
  • Evaluates changes to printed components via global change management system.
  • Manages safety stock strategies, Inventory of Questionable Value, slow movers to minimize discards or interruptions in supply.
  • Reviews and recommends on a regular basis change to all planning parameters such as target inventories, lead-times, planning standards and schedules among others.
  • Develops budget and long-term forecast production scenarios to provide guidance for capacity utilization, materials forecast, resources utilization and related spendings.
  • Monitors operations performance against financial commitments.
  • Recommends corrective and preventive actions to meet budget/outlook.
  • For Finish Goods, adjusts sales orders as needed and evaluate delay orders for PSL.
  • Evaluates root cause for backorder to promote zero loss sales.
  • Supports plant and corporate group initiatives and priorities.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives by developing and implementing the processes and metrics as required.
  • Monitors SAP systems performance to find the root cause of deviation to design and fix issues to have a smooth and effective end to end supply chain.
  • Leads and participates in Tier Processes.
  • Mentors members under supervision, provides input and coaching on professional development and career path; provides timely feedback evaluates performance of direct reports after obtaining the relevant functional input and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Science or Engineering required. Industrial Engineering is highly preferred. 
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a similar position (planning, warehouse, supply chain) in a manufacturing environment or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience with strong organization skills.
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills to manage a team and technical staff.
  • Technical English and Spanish, oral and written communication.
  • Leadership skills, including but not limited to delegation, motivation, influencing, conflict management, teamwork, and negotiation. 
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels. 
  • Conflict resolution and technical writing skills.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Serves as backup to PMD system.
  • Responsible for other tasks or projects as assigned.
