The Senior Associate Director, Corporate Account Veterinarian will strengthen the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA, Inc. position in national and global strategic accounts (corporate veterinary businesses, retail animal health, etc.) This veterinarian will participate in a team-selling environment and provide technical support and expertise to the sales/marketing efforts of BIAH products. The incumbent will directly and actively manage (within the team) selected US Account in B2B / vet / corporate setting. They must have P/L responsibility to deliver excellence in customer value creation and ensure above market growth.

 

The SR AD, Corporate Account Veterinarian will assume the medical support role of assigned strategic/corporate accounts and through extensive collaboration with the Corp Partnership team and will help execute a strategy that provides technical support and solutions to customers that will ultimately drive revenue and above market growth.

 

This position will lead the development of relationships with corporate account veterinary leadership with the goal of establishing BIAH as a trusted advisor. This position requires the highest levels of accountability, agility, and intrapreneurship due to the variety demands from these strategic accounts.

 

Candidate can live anywhere in the United States. Preference for living in close proximity to a major airport. The specific location is negotiable with the hiring manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategy and Account Plan Development and Execution:

  • In alignment with account team, creates medical, technical, and category management goals for the business plan that ensure mutual value and long-term growth and account intimacy.
  • Provides medical leadership to the account team to help with engaging and influencing our most strategic and complex customers.
  • Account plan must ensure alignment with Global Strategic Marketing as well as local brand management, technical marketing, and US BIAH leadership.
  • Account plan must have key metrics of success that are regularly reviewed and evaluated with both the customer and internal stakeholders.


Account Relationship (Medical Leaders):

  • Creates collaborative and productive relationships with both global and regional medical leaders within assigned corporate accounts.
  • Identifies not only disease states in which BIAH has products, but also creates plans for category growth and development which results in mutual growth for both corporate customer and BIAH.
  • Responsible for regular face-to-face visits that allow for status updates with current plans and activities but seeks to uncover other customer needs that expand opportunities for value creation and value alignment.


Global and Regional Technical Expert:

  • Responsible for being technically sound on products and disease states in which we have products. This expertise will be used to train our local corporate account team so that they can be fluent around our products.
  • Further creates training for regional and global leads of our corporate account customers.
  • This expertise culminates in a complete understanding of the category and how to utilize category management to positively impact regional and global corporate customers as well as BIAH.
  • Knowledge of category knowledge where BIAH products are used such as disease, incidence, ancillary testing, monitoring, and lifetime value of the pet who has this disease will be taught to PSVs. Utilizes that knowledge with clinics within their district and region such that both and the corporate group grow revenue and improve patient outcomes.


Regional and Global Research Opportunities:

  • Creates and coordinates inter-organizational partnerships with medical leads to participate in clinical trials with global innovation.
  • Understands corporate account capabilities and desires so that we have opportunities to pursue Global Innovation projects within the corporate account clinics.
  • Supports these partnerships with necessary information, key introductions, and ongoing monitoring as required by BIAH and the corporate group.


Account Performance:

  • Ensures performance meets or exceeds annual Company sales, contract performance goals and market share objectives.
  • Ensures contracts are upheld to deliver optimal BI financial performance and drive desired behaviors.
  • Ensures that ample resources from the various business segments are engaged.
  • Guides and controls investment in all activity in the assigned accounts.
  • Implements activities which maximize sales force efforts in the corporate account.
  • Coordinates tactical implementation of strategy within the corporate account by engaging field PSVs and guiding them in execution and ensuring metrics are gathered to evaluate the success of the program.

Requirements

  • DVM and a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience with a combination of practice and industry experience in a customer facing role.
  • Ability to travel (up to 70-80% overnight travel domestically).
  • Ability to travel by air.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Authorization and ability to drive a company leased vehicle or authorized rental car.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Pivot Tables) applications required. 
  • Must demonstrate an aptitude and desire to sell and gain market share.
  • Knowledge of the animal health/veterinary clinic industry economics and drivers preferred.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a matrix team environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent written and oral communications (including presentations) abilities are essential, with written communications expertise a desirable extra.

  • Proficiency in various business software applications.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
