Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our Future Innovation team in the Parasitology Research department located in Athens, GA. Join a robust scientific team to advance state of the art molecular biology tools in endo- and ecto- parasites with the goal of target identification and validation. Work with diverse teams and experts, veterinarians, computational and medicinal chemists, globally and locally to collaborate on priority projects, utilizing expertise in parasite molecular biology to advance new therapeutic and preventative concepts for companion and production animal parasite infection/infestation. Utilize your strong background in molecular biology to bring solutions to novel questions about drug susceptibility/mode-of-action in veterinarian parasites and host-pathogen interactions. Post-Doctoral Fellows are expected to independently conduct research and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for a research project in molecular parasitology while remaining open and available to collaborate on solutions for priority projects. This requires consistent presentation of research data in Molecular Assay Development and Target Validation team lab meetings and meetings with other scientific stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in lab meetings with an open mind and eye for creative solutions across the portfolio of projects. Bring plausible solutions to the discussion.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with other parasitology subfunctions and functions within Global Innovation. Network within and outside of Parasitology Research, including with clinical and chemistry functions.
  • Be a proactive and teamwork-focused lab member. Work closely with colleagues to coordinate experiments based on priority and resources and contribute to a heathy lab environment.
  • Deliver high-quality data in support of your research project and any collaborative work. Define clear hypotheses and develop clear, controlled experimental design to address these hypotheses.
  • Comply with all applicable regulations, perform all work in a safe manner and maintain proper records in accordance with SOP’s and policies.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have a PhD or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related field. Molecular Parasitology is a plus.
  • Candidate must have strong skills in generating hypotheses and equivalent skills in experimental design to progress projects. 
  • Expertise in designing molecular approaches to answer basic and applied questions, preferably with parasite experience
  • Must be able to independently design and carry out organismal, biochemical and molecular assays
  • Candidate must possess strong technical laboratory skills and quality notebook documentation 
  • Good scientific communication skills, oral and written, are a must have.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
