THE OPPORTUNITY

 

This is a high-impact legal business partner role at the heart of Boehringer Ingelheim’s European operations. As Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll:

 

  • Be a strategic legal business partner to our Human Pharma business across the MIDI region, providing top quality advise on local and cross-border legal and regulatory matters relating to our clinical development operations and product portfolio
  • Partner closely with the leaders of our Human Pharma business toshape business decisions with compelling expertise and influencing skills
  • Hold a seat on and represent the legal function in key internal committees and meetings, influencing decisions that shape our operations and compliance
  • Work closely with senior leaders in a complex, international and fast-paced environment
  • Take ownership of high-impact legal and regulatory matters with autonomy and trust

This position is based in Amsterdam and reports directly to the Head of Legal & Compliance MIDI.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provide strategic legal and regulatory guidance to the human pharma business in the MIDI region
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and legal documents
  • Support local and cross-border projects and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate closely with local, regional and global colleagues and steer external counsel
  • Steer the initiation and defence of claims and litigation in alignment with headquarters
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on operations leveraging the global legal & compliance network

 

 

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TEAM

 

  • Master’s degree in law and admission to the bar in the Netherlands or another European jurisdiction
  • At least 6 years of role-relevant post-qualification experience in a multinational pharma or life sciences setting or international law firm specialized in the field
  • Strong command of commercial and competition lawas well as EU life sciences regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment
  • Strong influencing skills, compelling legal expertise and persuasive communication
