THE OPPORTUNITY
As Public & Governmental Affairs (P&GA) Manager MIDI, you will shape and advance Boehringer Ingelheim’s policy and government engagement agenda across the MIDI region, playing a pivotal role in creating a favorable environment for our Human Pharma and Animal Health businesses.
In this influential role, you will develop and execute high‑impact policy positions and Government Affairs programs, closely monitor political and regulatory developments, and proactively translate insights into strategic actions for the business.
Moreover, you will coordinate, activate, and support Public & Government Affairs (PG&A) responsible colleagues across the Operating Units (OPUs) in MIDI, while personally leading the development and execution of the P&GA plan in the Netherlands
Through strong stakeholder engagement and a robust Corporate Affairs strategy, you will help ensure sustainable access to Boehringer Ingelheim’s medicines for patients and society — today and in the future.
This position is based in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and reports directly to the Head of Corporate Affairs MIDI.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish clear PG&A objectives and KPIs for the MIDI region, translating corporate priorities into regional and local goals.
- Ensure that the P&GA objectives, tactics and KPI’s are incorporated in the regional (MIDI) & local Operating Unit (OPU) business plans for Human Pharma (HP) and Animal Health (AH).
- Support and guide local country organizations (OPUs) in delivering their policy‑shaping initiatives and achieving agreed objectives and KPIs.
- Work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure that political engagement plans in our region proactively address opportunities and hurdles for patients that require government action.
- Lead in the development and execution of the P&GA plan in the Dutch market.
- Coordinate participation in Trade Associations and Chambers of Commerce and align with P&GA responsible colleagues in the OPUs on Boehringer Ingelheim’s participation, objectives, key activities and KPI's, and monitor progress.
- Play active role in Dutch trade associations for the HP and AH business units.
- Maintain regular alignment with the P&GA responsible colleagues across the OPUs to review progress and identify support needs.
- Participate in the EU EPAG network.
- Roll-out and manage monitoring tools to support P&GA activities across MIDI (using corporate and local tools).
- Roll-out and support the implementation of a structured stakeholder management approach across the region.
- Build P&GA capabilities by training and upskilling internal stakeholders across the region.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TEAM
- Master's degree in politics, Public Affairs or related studies.
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience in politics / government relations at regional and national level.
- In depth understanding of healthcare policy and / or Animal Health policy.
- An understanding of the issues facing the pharmaceutical and animal health industry and a grasp of its regulatory environment.
- In-depth understanding of the political environment in the Netherlands and ideally having an established network.
- Knowledge of Intellectual Property topics.
- Track record of implementing advocacy strategies to shape a policy environment in pursuit of organizational goals.
- Ability to work in a matrixed organization.
- Ability to influence across geographical and functional layers.
- Ability to effectively prioritize.
- Excellent command of the Dutch & English languages.
