THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a broad-ranging legal and governance expert role at the heart of Boehringer Ingelheim’s European operations. As Legal Counsel, you’ll:
- Be a trusted legal expert advising our businesses and group functions across the MIDI region on local and cross-border legal, contractual and governance matters
- Work closely with colleagues from our businesses and group functions as well as with senior management
- Gain exposure to and find adequate pragmatic solutions for local and cross-border legal and governance matters in a complex, international and fast-paced environment
- Take ownership of diverse legal, contractual and governance topics with autonomy and trust

This position is based in Amsterdam and reports directly to the Head of Legal & Compliance MIDI.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As Legal Counsel, you’ll be delivering high-quality support, advice and guidance across the businesses and functions.
- Draft, review and negotiate, commercial contracts, as well as corporate legal and governance documents
- Provide legal and governance advise and act as legal business partner to the group functions in the MIDI region
- Organise and oversee corporate housekeeping matters across the MIDI region.
- Support local and cross-border projects and the implementation of compliant governance processes
- Collaborate closely with local, regional and global colleagues and steer external counsel
- Monitor legal developments in the fields of legal governance and commercial law and assess their impact on operations leveraging the global legal & compliance network
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TEAM
- Bachelor’s and master’s degree in law, earned in the Netherlands or another European jurisdiction
- At least 3 years of role-relevant post-qualification experience in a multinational corporate or international law firm setting
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment
