The SR AD, Strategic Accounts is responsible for delivering the agreed upon annual revenue targets for Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health through successful leading external sales force. This role is responsible for leading the sales function and effective management of their Direct Reports as well as will direct the sales functions in the implementation of the BIAH sales/marketing plan to assure maximum market penetration of BIAH products within BIAH guidelines, policies, and directives. This role ensures equal and consistent application of established policies and procedures in the management of employees to meet or exceed sales goals. Please Note: this is a field-based role. Territories this role will oversee include DE, MD, VA, GA, NC, TX, CA. Living location is negotiable with hiring manager. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs a team of territory sales and strategic account managers in the implementation of the BIAH sales/marketing plan to ensure sales performance meets or exceeds annual Company sales and assures maximum distribution and market penetration of BIAH products.
  • Exercises fiscal control on allocated operating budgets.
  • Continuously works to improve the effectiveness of the sales force.
  • Ensures that the segment is structured for maximum market impact and staffed with qualified, highly motivated sales personnel.
  • Effectively administers salary and reward programs.
  • Coaches, develops, motivates, and monitors team members' performance, to including the development of actionable MAG plans, provides regular feedback, and conducts timely MAG Plan reviews.
  • Recognizes and develops personnel for increased responsibility.
  • Identifies performance challenges, creates action plans, and monitors the effectiveness of these action plans.
  • Guides all Sales Team disciplinary action in the Region, including terminations.
  • Utilizes and helps maintain appropriate data sources (e.g., CRM, CLM) to develop tactical plans and to manage segment at a high level of productivity.
  • Actively monitors progress of work, cross-functional activities, and accountability.
  • Plans and executes meetings that effectively implement objectives and strategies as determined by the Company.
  • Spends appropriate amount of time developing customers, networks, and their relationships to foster Company business.
  • Responds to the needs of the customer in a timely and professional manner.
  • Contributes to the development of the BIAH business plan.
  • Develops positive relationships with Company internal customers.
  • Communicates candidly with supervisor and direct reports.
  • Ensures an open communication environment for direct reports.
  • Applies appropriate coaching styles to each direct report to develop skills and ensure accountability.
  • Attends management and marketing meetings to recommend field needs and product strategies to ensure that the sales force has the sales tools needed to increase our market penetration.
  • Evaluates policies and sales strategies.
  • Provides feedback to senior management on the effectiveness and results of policies, strategies, and procedures.
  • Leads special projects as assigned.
  • Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g., EEO, FDA, OSHA, etc.) and Company policies and procedures.
  • When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management.
  • Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts to maintain BIAH's excellent reputation within the community.
  • This role is responsible for the customer management across the species sales functions, engages in a leadership team for the species and works with the marketing and technical functions to build a plan to maximize the opportunity for BIAH. This role will also engage with distributors / key accounts / other channels to deliver the targets for BIAH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA Preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years successful industry experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years sales management or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel 65-70% (may include overnight travel).
  • History of successful performance.
  • Leadership, organizational and communications skills.
  • Database and analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and database applications.
  • Must reside in assigned geography or be willing to relocate.
  • Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
  • Authorization and ability to drive a Company leased vehicle or authorized rental.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
