Job Description

  • Lead enzyme engineering efforts within cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of strategies with discovery and development goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and data collection on enzyme genes, propose actionable solutions, and contribute to their effective implementation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and actively collaborate with academic and industry partners.
  • Oversee enzyme production and process at pilot and commercial scales, facilitate technology transfer processes, and collaborate with Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) as required.
  • Work alongside a highly motivated team in a fast-paced, mission-driven work environment.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design enzymatic pathways for target products by enzyme mining, developing enzyme libraries, managing high-throughput screening, and optimizing enzyme through engineering methods.
  • Enhance and optimize workflows for the identification of enzyme variants with improved activity, stability, and specificity tailored to specific organic reaction.
  • Utilize protein structure modeling, molecular docking, molecular dynamic simulation, and computer-aided design to develop, optimize and modify enzymes.
  • Analyze complex datasets, prepare comprehensive reports, effectively communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders and apply  intellectual property rights principles.
  • Comply with applicable regulations and performs all work in a safe manner. Maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies. Demonstrate corporate and CoC culture (Learning agility, value through innovation, can do attitude, craft-man spirits, et.al).

 

Requirements:

  • PhD with 2+ years (or MSc with 4+ years or Bachelor's degree with 7+ years) in synthetic biology, enzyme engineering, biochemistry, genetic engineering, metabolic engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Exhibit proven experience in synthetic biology industry, including the successfully commercialization of at least one product.
  • Demonstrate expertise in gene cloning and molecular biology techniques with a strong familiarity with E. Coli expression systems and advanced methodologies for enzyme modification and directed evolution experiments.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that enzymatic process development aligns seamlessly with project timelines and objectives.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of protein analytical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, Western blot, HPLC, Octet/Biacore, mass spectrometry (MS), and isoelectric focusing (IEF).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Extensive experience in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), bioinformatics, and other innovative digital tools, contributing to the advancement and future development of biocatalysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operating and integrating automated instruments, including qPRC, next-generation sequence (NGS), and flow cytometry.
