Scientist II/III, New Biological Entities PK/BA Group

Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated Scientist II/III to join the NBE Bioanalytical (BA) group in the global Drug Discovery Sciences (DDS) department. The position is located at our US research site in Ridgefield, CT.

 

As a member of the DDS US department, the successful Scientist II/III will design and implement non-regulated custom quantitative pharmacokinetic and biomarker ligand binding assays in support of Boehringer Ingelheim’s innovative pre-clinical New Biological Entity (NBE) R&D portfolio. They will collaborate with key stakeholders in pre-clinical development in support of the project and bioanalytical strategy. They will enhance capabilities of group via implementation of novel bioanalytical approaches and technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities

•    Independently develops and implements custom quantitative ligand binding assays, e.g., ELISA, MSD, Quanterix and/or Gyros to measure antibodies, protein therapeutics and biomarkers in biological matrices  
•    Troubleshoots effectively and solves scientific problems independently; Operates lab equipment and is independently responsible for maintenance
•    Designs and executes non-routine experiments on a basis of literature analyses with minimal supervision
•    Independently applies basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps abreast of literature in own field
•    Proposes new experiments/technologies based on science as well as overall understanding of drug discovery/development process; Demonstrates expertise in field and contributes to training technicians and junior level scientists
•    Effectively communicates and defends own work in the context of team and department goals both orally and in writing
•    Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics; Writes protocols, procedures, and technical reports; Provides input for scientific reports
•    Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies

Requirements

Scientist II:
•    Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, immunology, physiology, chemistry, pharmacy or related field with relevant experience in laboratory research in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry or Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, immunology, physiology, chemistry, pharmacy or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience in laboratory research in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry.
•    Experience developing custom quantitative ligand binding assays, e.g., ELISA, MSD, Quanterix and/or Gyros to measure antibodies and proteins in various matrices desirable


Scientist III:
•    Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, immunology, physiology, chemistry, pharmacy or related field with 6 years of experience in laboratory research in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry 
•    Proficient in developing custom quantitative ligand binding assays, e.g., ELISA, MSD, Quanterix and/or Gyros to measure antibodies and proteins in various matrices 

 

Both Levels
•    High technical proficiency/attention to detail, with strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving technologies
•    Ability to build effective working relationships and aptitude for sharing expertise with cross-functional and global teams
•    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an interdisciplinary environment

 

Eligibility Requirements:
•    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States 
•    Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background 
•    Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required) 
•    Must be 18 years of age or older

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $75,000.00 and $122,000.00 USD.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here.
