Expert or Scientific Lead IU Digital Portfolio Management
The Position
Joining our growing Computational Innovation (#CI) function within Boehringer Ingelheim’s Innovation Unit (IU), you can step into a world of data-driven approaches and cutting-edge computational innovation to drive the discovery of new therapies
In your new role you combine your strong analytical skills with your focus on delivery to ensure the progression of IU’s portfolio of IT & digital initiatives and investments into data along our overarching goals, thereby ultimately advancing science and improving clinical success.
This position has a hybrid setup with minimum 2 days per week on site.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will manage IU’s portfolio of IT & digital initiatives and data acquisitions, and you will provide regular overviews including scientific use cases, value propositions, impact and alignment to strategy to the overarching governance body.
- You will coordinate and prepare regular reviews of the entire portfolio, and you will facilitate and support strategic planning and decision making of the governance body through e.g. cross-domain business case analyses, summaries of identified strategic gaps, and provisioning of outside-in perspectives.
- With your expertise, you will support portfolio budgeting and coordinate access to resources and capabilities for all portfolio initiatives to ensure their successful implementation.
- In addition, you will prepare regular communications about the portfolio and individual initiatives on a regular basis, employing various channels including internal digital platforms.
Additional tasks for the Scientific Lead position
- You will drive the development and refinement of KPIs and metrics to assess progress, health, and impact of the portfolio.
- With your overview on the entire portfolio, you will drive the identification of gaps in our digital capabilities and will develop proposals for strategic initiatives to close them.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Sciences, Bioinformatics, or a related field
- Several years of professional experience in pharma R&D and working in multifunctional teams
- Experience in (matrix) leadership as well as pronounced leadership skills, including coaching, challenging and guiding
- Several years of experience in (strategic) consulting
- Knowledge of digital technologies and their implementation in R&D
- Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, time management skills, and initiative required
- Excellent communication and analytical skills as well as intercultural experience
- Fluent in English required
