Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our I&R department located at our Ridgefield CT facility. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented co-op student eager to contribute to our Translational Biology Research team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in refining and enhancing skin organoid cultures, aiming to establish a more precise and ethical method for drug testing and disease modeling within translational biology. This approach is crucial for advancing personalized medicine and developing treatments that are both safer and more effective. The role provides practical experience in a state-of-the-art research setting, along with the chance to be involved in meaningful scientific breakthroughs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform 2D primary cell culture work (keratinocyte and Melanocytes).
  • Perform and optimize iPSC derived 3D skin organoid cultures.
  • Perform routine laboratory techniques such as RT-PCR, ELISA and Imaging.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.
  • Collaborate with team members to interpret and present data.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and procedures.

Requirements

  • Major or minor in related field such as Molecular biology, Cell Biology  or Immunology.
  • Basic understanding of immunology principles.
  • Experience with standard laboratory techniques, including cell culturing, RT-PCR and ELISA.
  • Must be a current graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship.
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.

Compensation: This position offers an hourly rate between $29.00/hr. and $33.00/hr. commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
