Sr AD, Medical Customer Engagement - Cardio Renal Metabolic (Remote)
Description
The Senior Associate Director, Medical Customer Engagement - Cardio Renal Metabolic ensures that Boehringer Ingelheim's medical US customers (HCP's, Health Systems, Payors, Patient Advocacy Groups and Professional Societies) are engaged in a coordinated, strategy driven manner within the therapeutic area medical and commercial teams. This requires working knowledge of the needs of stakeholders and the ability to construct a comprehensive engagement plan across multiple customer-facing engagement teams (including MSLs, AMAs, Patient Advocacy, and the Medical Contact Center) in support of the TA & Asset teams’ strategy, as well as the medical priorities for the key customer segments of Health Systems and Payers. In collaboration with the other Medical Customer Engagement TA members and supported by the Director, Medical Customer Engagement Strategy Lead, this role orchestrates TA Medical Congress planning and execution, collaborates with PAR to establish an aligned business franchise strategy for engaging with Professional Medical Association, and ensures engagement plans align to the TA medical customer experience strategy and have consistent messaging and appropriate resources. The SR AD, Medical Customer Engagement TA empowers the therapeutic area and associated Asset Teams work collaboratively across BI's cross-functional commercial and scientific teams (CDMA, AMAs, MSLs, Clinical Operations, R&D, Commercial Customer Facing Teams) to successfully engage external stakeholders in a holistic and synchronized manner, in support of the overall TA and Asset Team objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Works primarily within the TAs, Asset Teams, Stakeholder Relations (formerly Strategic Engagement) and customer facing engagement leaders across CDMA to ensure the development and execution of external medical customer engagement plans across multiple customer types utilizing multiple channels in a synchronized manner.
- Accountable for ensuring consistency in the remit, capabilities, performance and enabling resources for all MSL teams.
- Collaborate with the Stakeholder Relations (formerly Strategic Engagement team) to ensure execution of Early Asset and Asset Ecosystem KEE engagement strategies.
- Ensures medical customer engagement plans enhance efficiencies and reward innovative thinking and approaches.
- Improve on a consistent approach for the MSL & AMA teams to create scientific objectives and associated TA specific FBM tactical plans in collaboration with TA Leadership and MSL Directors.
- Works with TAs, (EA) Asset Teams, Medical Customer Experience, Patient Advocacy and Medical Engagement TA team members to develop clear roadmaps and strategies that increase the value of US Medical Affairs customer engagements, optimizes channel selection, and ensures that medical customer needs are being met on a consistent basis.
- Works with/across the entire Medicine organization (local & Corporate), Commercial, CDMA and TAs to ensure that deployment of medical engagement resources across one or more channels and CFTs when appropriate to ensure appropriate resources are available that are strategically and timely delivered for optimal medical engagement.
- Responsible for executing the roll-out of medical content campaigns developed by Medical Customer Experience for the Medical Customer Facing teams.
Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree required; Advanced science/clinical degree (PharmD, M.D., DNP, DO, Ph.D., Master’s), preferred.
- Seven (7) years professional experience in a scientific, clinical, and/or medical space, including: five-plus (5+) years of prior Medical Affairs, MSL or related pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Experience leading people, initiatives, or projects in a cross-collaborative environment.
- Effective in engaging and maintaining relationships with partners, stakeholders, key opinion leaders, and influencers, with strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Deep understanding of Clinical Development, Medical, and Commercial interfaces, including legal and regulatory risks, and expertise in Medical Stakeholder Segmentation.
- High-level expertise in field-based medicine, significant business acumen, strong project management skills, process improvement mentality, and digital acumen.
- Proven effectiveness engaging and maintaining relationships with partners, stakeholders, external experts/ key opinion leaders, and influencers across organizational levels with strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to determine the right resource (customer facing team) to reach the customer needs at the most efficient resource cost.
- Deep understanding of Clinical Development/ Medical/ Commercial interfaces and potential risks/ impacts within the legal and regulatory spaces.
- Understanding of Medical Stakeholder Segmentation, identifying unmet needs and approaches for synchronous customer engagement to address those needs most effectively and efficiently.
- Requires a high-level of expertise in the field-based medicine function.
- Requires significant business acumen and the ability to establish and build cross-functional relationships with leadership across the local & global organization.
- Strong project management skills and a process improvement mentality; digital acumen or interest in innovative technical approaches is preferred.
- Expertise in pharmaceutical compliance laws, regulations, and guidelines related scientific communications, as well as industry best practices related to MSL activities.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation
This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
