Senior Accountant

The Position

The role involves leading the Singapore Central Finance organization to manage financial resources and support business decision-making, ensuring sustainable and profitable growth. The position is accountable for the financial statements (FS1 and FS2) in accordance with German GAAP and Local GAAP, local statutory reporting, and corporate policies and procedures. The role serves as the lead contact with external auditors and other local fiscal authorities. Additionally, it drives compliance with applicable local tax laws and regulations, ensuring fair taxation while minimizing tax burdens and ensuring effective payment of taxes. The position also involves driving intercompany agreements and the calculation of intercompany charges to the respective OPUs in the region, as well as reporting overall intercompany charges to Corporate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely, efficient, and accurate closing processes, in coordination with the GBS framework.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide insights to colleagues.
  • Oversee and manage accounting operations with the support of GBSC.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations, laws, and company policies.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Coordinate and facilitate external audits.
  • Ensure financial statements are accurate and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and improve internal controls, processes, and procedures to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy in accordance with CoSeA.
  • Review and ensure fair and reasonable terms to agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform regular reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform monthly billing and overall TP margin calculations at year-end.
  • Accountable for legal tax compliance and tax accounting (including local tax laws) with the support of corporate tax & GBSC Tax.
  • Ensure corporate and local tax compliance and reporting, including direct and indirect tax.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of tax audits in consultation with Corporate Tax & GBSC Tax.
  • Perform local and global year-end tax accounting with the support of tax agent, corporate tax, and GBSC Tax.
  • Adhere to local document retention policies for tax purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory and fiscal authority laws, rules, and regulations, as well as corporate policy and strategy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Over 3 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year of tax exposure.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of SG GAAP (Singapore Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex topics and to extract and focus on critical key areas.
  • Ability to work under changing conditions, work independently and prioritize activities.
  • Strong analytical skills together with hands-on mentality.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to prepare complex topics and explain them in an understandable way to non-expert stakeholders.
  • Strong focus on governance and change management skills.
