Summer BIFI Intern, Fremont CA
Description
Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join the Development Operations department (Analytical Science team) located at our Fremont facility. As an Intern, you will be evaluating, optimizing, and implementing new analytical technologies and platforms for titer measurement by Biolayer Interferometry (BLI) and plate-based fluorescence polarization (FP) technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Interact with diverse team of scientists.
- Gain real world industrial experience in process development areas in cell culture, protein purification and analytical sciences.
- Gain exposure to core techniques for successful independent research projects (including but not limited to literature research, DOE, novel high throughput instruments and presentation skills).
- Applies academic and other experiential knowledge and skills to complete assigned work with supervision.
- Understands and applies basic scientific, math or other business principles with guidance.
- Effectively interprets, assesses, and communicates data in the area assigned.
- Complies with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, performing all work in a safe manner.
- Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
Requirements
- Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing
- Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
- Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
- Major must be related to the field of internship.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and/or experience with using High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is a plus.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with Empower and SoftMax Pro is a plus.
- Experience with BLI and FP technology is a plus.
- Demonstrate ability to execute laboratory experiments and communicate scientific results.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Compensation Data
This position offers a base salary typically between ($22.00 hourly) and ($33.00 hourly). There is opportunity to consider higher compensation above this range based on business need, candidate experience and or skills.
