Product Manager Parasiticide Companion Animals

The Opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic Product Manager Parasiticide Companion Animals based in Johannesburg. This position will be responsible in developing, implementing, and monitoring the marketing strategies, brand plans and Parasitic Companion Animals strategy throughout the veterinary and retail channels. The person responsible will collaborate cross-functionally, both internally and externally to ensure the development and execution of brand plans and contribute in brand teams and financial planning meetings and preparation. 
This is a full-time, marketing role reporting directly to the Head of the Companion Animal Business Unit.

Role & Responsibilities 

•    Responsible for the development, implementation and execution of strategic plans that optimize sales, market share and revenue growth for a brand or set of brands in the short and long term
•    Prepare and execute product launches to penetrate the market in line with strategic goals and objectives. Plan financial forecasting for short and long term budget setting
•    Drive continuous planning and execution of product strategies through frequent evaluation and adaptation of plans according to changes in market and competitor landscape.
•    Provide a high level analysis of potential business opportunities utilizing insights from market research, industry trends, competitive intelligence, and understanding of therapeutic areas for brand area
•    Coordinate and manage relevant opinion leader networks in relation to the past and future portfolio management, including all important external channels to ensure continued long term success
•    Develop customer/channel specific marketing strategies by leveraging knowledge of all customer marketing channels and co-promotion partners to add  market and brand value
•    Monitor product pricing and distribution policy in accordance with the guidelines of corporate  and local  / regional marketing/business
•    Manage stock in coordination with supply chain, develop strategies to sell out short dates stock and monitor stock reports monthly to identify trends and act accordingly
•    Closely liaise with the field force to adopt customer's perspectives in order to anticipate their expectations allowing development and evaluation of solutions accordingly
•    Deliver appropriate training on product and marketing strategy and tactics for the team to execute their role
•    Optimizes the promotional mix for a brand based on allocated resources and recognizes the point of diminishing returns and redirects efforts when current approach in not achieving desired outcomes.
•    Manage promotional spend in accordance to allocation, plan phasing according to tactics spent and monitor actuals vs budget on a monthly basis.
•    Financial cycle planning including income statement and profitability ration management, long term forecasting and budget setting in line with market share analysis vs competitors 

Requirements 

•    Bachelors degree and or diploma/degree in Marketing Management, Life Sciences or a related qualification
•    5+ years of work experience in a previous product marketing management.
•    At least entry-level product management or related experience within the animal health or pharmaceutical industries or over the counter/ FMCGs market
•    Excellent written & verbal communication skills along with excellent presentation, facilitation, analytical and interpersonal skills
•    Strong planning, organization, and time management skills, including attention to detail
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, and Excel spreadsheet) applications
•    Ability to multi-task, interact, and work within a team environment and function independently when required
